HELP!! Radias wont start!!

Post by krolewiec »

 I just bought a used Radias on Ebay, but every time I turn it on it restarts over and over again (I see the "Radias" logo and the OS starts to load - but after loading, the unit restarts itself!! It looks like its maybe a internal OS problem or so, but I cant connect it to my computer because it doesnt stay on long enough for the computer to recognize it.

PLEASE HELP ME !! Anybody has an idea what to do??
PS: sometimes I can keep it on for about 30 seconds before restarting, but its just not long enough to find it in the Radias updater.

Im just SO DEPRESSED!!!

This sounds like the power supply.....
I think this could be a faulty transformer,Fuse, connection or possibly an intermittent standby switch.
I heard somewhere there are fuses inside the powersupply...if so, make sure they are seated securely...check both cables to the midline transformer including your AC feed.......(I know, I know.... a no brainer)
I used to have a power up problem, where you would see the Radias logo, but it would only continue to load up 3 out of 10 times I started it...It would not reboot without a physical disconnection via a switch push..... that is why I suggest checking the power supply(AC plug/fuses/low voltage cable/connecter/switch) first...because unplugging and reseating the connector emulates the problem you are having....
Mine (BTW) needed the main memory module replaced.... which was luckily under warrantee....
One last test......
power off.....
press the Combination of Master FX and bothLeft Cursor and Right Cursor while turning on the machine..........
You should get an alternate screen Radias Verup mode....with your firmware version........
It should stay on this page indefinately.........untill you power off.....
If it blinks, and you again see the cycle of Radias logo followed by booting, it just has to be a power connection...
If it stays on that page......my guess is a Radias Technician needs to open her up......

Why are you depressed? Just send it back to the seller and file a claim with PayPal.

You did use PayPal, right?

Otherwise, you're probably looking at sending it to an authorized service center for them to update the corrupted flash or diagnose the failure.

I agree about the power supply. The Radias sucks quite a bit of power, and if the voltage dips too low it restarts. Is this a US power supply? I know that the european power bricks on the Radias are much more solid in quality than the US ones (I have both...)

What you could do is go to a music store and ask them to help you with trying that possibility out.

Otherwise, back to sender!

Hmm.. I have a US powersupply , so I am using a converter. Maybe thats the problem?? I will try to get a European power supply and see if that helps. :?:

I will post again when I have checked it.

Thanks for your help so far!

AH! That's it!!

I used a stepdown converter myself! It was rated 50W... but didn't hold up to the promise. And I got the same effects as you, even though my Radias did work for around 10-20 minutes before restarting.

Do yourself a favor and get a european power supply. They cost around 40 euros and are available in most good synth shops. It's the same power supply as for the Electribes btw.

Just as support - I had exactly the same with my Trinity, the converter was at fault. :)
