I have always stated that anything developed from it will be free, also I have always mentioned RicFreak in almost all posts about XRM, In this way I am trying to fulfill these conditions. As You may have noticed I always, even in the version just released it is referred to as "RicFreaks XRM , updated by Mickb". in fact the original credits, thanking those who helped Riccardo in the development is almost intact in the "About Box" of XRM I just edited it slightly to remove references to his website and email address which seem to no longer be active, and insert email address for myself for reporting bugs or requesting features.


I have no intention of "pirating" the software or pretending it is all my own work, but if ANYONE feels this is what is happening then I will stop development of it and start it all over again from a fresh slate, the reason I did not do this from the start was so SOMETHING could be available to the forum members in a much shorter time.


Again, if anybody has current contact details for Riccardo PLEASE, PLEASE forward them to me, I have tried email as well as snail mail but have had no reply as yet.


On another note I hope everyone who has downloaded it has found it useful so far

It all seems to instal and load okay, but I seem to be able to only access the user banks from the PA1xpro, is there any way you know of to access the factory style banks? These are the ones I want to re-arrange. I have the factory style protect set to off. I have tried saving the styles folder from the SSD to the HDD and then tried opening that, but it still only contains the user styles, even though on the SSD the same style folder shows ALL factory styles as well??
Any help appreciated.

Hi Dennis,

The only way I found of doing this is as follows:

a) Use Media-Copy to copy the factory styles a bank at a time to the equivalent Favorite Bank
b) Use Medi-Save to save the Favorite banks (all of them in one go) to a single .SET file
c) Export to PC and edit/ reorder the styles there
d) Re-import to factory styles by Opening the .SET file, Open the Styles folder, then Load the Favorite bank but specify as destination the Factory bank you are overwriting.

Fill them up and then copy them out to renamed sets for transfer to the PC.

Would be easier to just copy them from the SSD direct, but if that's how Korg have designed it, so be it.

Its not a critical issue as I use the midi functions most of all, or I will use it as drum machine whilst playing left hand bass, and piano/Ep..but I was mucking around with the XRM and thought it would be a good idea after all this time to "get with the program"...

Hi Dennis,

I use the Favorites banks as a"go-between" because there's a lot more of them (10 banks)!
If you haven't done so already you should select "Favorites" see p107 in Pa800 manual.

I accept that it is harder to manipulate Factory styles than User or Favorite Styles. Personally I think it is a very bad idea to re-order the Factory Styles becuase next time there is another MR update (any day soon now) there is no way of preventing the changes you have made from being overwritten. Nor can you merge your changes back again in an easy way. Hence I recommend that if you want to modify factory settings - USE FAVORITES. You can also rename the Bank names of Favorites to be the same as some of the factory bank names if you wish.

I would prefer it if Korg doubled the number of Favorite banks from 10 to 20, so we could produce an exact duplicate of Factory Styles and then modify them to our hearts' desires without fear of subsequent Factory updates overwriting them. I might submit this suggestion to Korg for their next "bright ideas" competition

You can use the Direct HD banks on the Pa1x to do the same thing.

Unfortunately the factory styles are not accessible via USB however the DIRECTHD banks are.

You can use XRM to write a bank of styles to these, at present the only way to do this is when writing a bank, use the top option "Make as...." and naigate to the drive corresponding to your PA1X hard drive, then open the folder "DIRECT HD" inside you will see 3 folders !123.SET,!456.SET and !789.SET, these correspond to the direct HD buttons, open whichever folder you want to write the style file to and save it there.


if you want you can then transfer the style to your factory banks from here.

a later update to XRM will allow for easier writing to the DIRECTHD banks.

Yes I do, It will be done by entering a drive letter in the parameters dialog which will correspond to the SSD-U area of the keyboard.
