Vocoder and 8bit question

Hey I got my microKorg for Christmas and i have been messing around with it but there are a few things i don't understand how to do.

Does anyone know how bands make there voices sound normal but pitchshift them?
-for example The Medic Droid does it alot ( see there song The Killer Anna or any others) www.myspace.com/themedicdroid

Can you freeze the vocals and replay them?

Also how do you get 8bit sounds out of the microkorg like Horse The Band and other "nintendocore" bands?

if someone could help me out on any of it that would be awsome
