KORG 05R/W MIDI Sound Module

Post by daddykingcool »

Hi

I have just joined the Korg Forum.

I have a Korg O5R/W Module that I have now had for about 4 years.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who also has one or knows a bit about them as I would like to pick your brain please.

Or, if anyone can advise the best Forum to post in for help with this module.

Many thanks

Hi,
I´ve got one, too.
What are your problems with this module?

O5R/W Module

Post by daddykingcool »

Hi

I use it for playing backing MIDI tracks through (live with my band). This works really well and it gives a great sound - the MIDI instruments are really good.

However - there are a few things I would like to know if you are able to help:-

1. In order to play the MIDI files I put the unit bin Multi mode which requres 2 key presses each time - is it possible to default the uinit to always start up in Multi Mode?

2. For some tracks I put track 10 (drums) complteley to the right channel (when used for a click track). Again this takes quite a few clicks to do this. Is is possible to set a programme so that I can do this (when requred) much quicker.

3. The only other query is. After playing some MIDI tracks I have to swicth the unit off and back on, if I don't other MIDI tracks do not play properly. Do you know if it's popssible to reset by sending a MIDI file or command to the unit.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

As far as I know, a "GM On" sysex command makes the module switch to Multi mode and reset all channels. That would fix point 1 and 3. I recommend to insert this at the beginning of all your midis, but take care you leave some time (maybe a quarter) before sending new program changes and controller settings, otherwise some of those might be missing.
I suppose there also will be a sysex command for changing the drum panning settings, propalby the manual or the SE-05 editor will help you here.

Nope, that link doesn't work for me. If it works for you, please download the pdf and email it to me at ross@rcscanada.com. Appreciate it!
Any other links?
Thanks

Does anyone have a working link/file they could send of the 05r/w manual? I'm in the same boat as rlangbell.

Korg O5R/W Sound Bank Chart

Post by ericcroll »

I don't need the whole manual (although it would be nice), but I could really use a copy of the sound bank chart.

Korg O5R/W Sound Bank Chart

Also, I believe that the sound banks are the same for the X5, as well as the N series (264, 364).

I suppose this response comes a bit late, but changing the battery (a standard 2032 button cell) is very easy. Open the Korg 05R/W, locate the battery and remove it using a small pin or flathead screwdriver. Then pop in the new battery. I did it this week, when my defective 05R/W arrived. It was fixed in less than an hour.

bank change

Post by balages »

Hello guys

I have a KORG 05RW, and I bought an ALESIS Q49 master keyboard. My question is how can I change between "Bank A" and "Bank G" with this keyboard.

On the keyboard there is a Control Change Data, a Control Change Number and a Bank MSB-Bank LSB button (and besides numbered keys from 0 to 9), but I can't find out how to manage with these buttons the banks of the KORG modul.

thanks for the help
