You should probably start new thread about those ksounds pianos, with questions like 1. are they looped, 2. are they any good etc, 3. what's the size of each package etc etc.

I don't use those samples so can't answer to any of those questions.

Audacity is decent audio editor, will do the work, but I'm not sure is it capable of doing loops, don't think so, but you should try if you already have it. Even if it can't assign loop points in wave, it should be able to let you to loop and hear some looped section of sample, which should be enough for the start. If you manage to find loop points in editor, you can assign them in Extreme's sampler.

Wavosaur - never heard of it.

And by the way, RVNOak is right - there is nothing more satisfying than doing something on your own. Once you get to the point where you know how to create samples and multisamples out of waves, how to manipulate and combine them, how to program them to their maximum in Extreme, you'll be happy with yourself.

Or you can choose to be better musician and lesser programmer and pay someone to do it for you.

This option about giving samples to someone who would loop them in return isn't bad idea, too. Probably depends on where you live, don't give it someone who you are never gone see in person.

For Mellotron & Top Quality Acoustic pianos try the Kurzweil PC2R rack, its awesome!... i bought one  but you will need the Classic keys ROM expansion. its worth it though, compliments the TRiton EX 88 perfectly IMHO 8)

thanks for advice. I have recently looked into getting a kurzweil ME1 or PC2R rack with the classic keys ROM as an alternative to masterbits mellotron and K sounds Piano 2, just the price put me off unfortunately! Its around £500 for the PC2R and another £160 or so for the rom. Ive seen the ME1 for £234 but I would only be getting it for the piano (and possibly strings) and theres no mellotron at all on it. My other alternative to the complexity of looping etc is to use the bundled version of halion SE which came with steinbergs studiocase 2 which I bought. Im looking into whether this would be suitable to run masterbits mellotron wav as I believe looping is not necessary with it.

I am tempted to ditch this sampling lark altogether though and stick to what I know and buy a kurzweil rack, however the cost effective way to get a mellotron and exceptional piano sounds will only set me back around £80, (the mellotron samples were only £20)
