using the arp in combi mode.

Post by Mivy »

Guys,
Last night I played around with piano combi (LUSH). I tried to change the 3rd program to a bass sound. I went to ARP settings and gave this program the B arp pattern since the drum program was already using arp A. I set the ARP to a bossa arp.
I tried everything to make this work. I tried speeding the arp up a bit, and tried changing the arp zone but couldn't make this bass arp work for me. It would arpeggiate but not consistently. It would come and go.
What's the problem. Why does it start to arp and then stop?
Should I buy an arranger keyboard to make this happen?
I'm constantly learning and trying to read the manual and this sight for information.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I call things like that, MIDI Wierdness!
Similar things happen with my KARMA, and usually just navagating away, and returning to the Combi, fixes the issue.
No clue why that happens!

which combi did you start with?

you may find that you have set a velocity zone for the arp, in which case it will only trigger if you hit the key over a certain velocity.
or possibly you want it to latch? turn on the latching mode in the arp.a or arp.b tab as needed.

X-Trade is probably right.

I found, when making your own Combis, it is important to try and normalize everything that was there before from the combination you are starting with.

Bascily what I am saying is, going into all the parameters and changing the velocities back to nominal states, along with the keyz section, etc. After you do all this, you should find that your own creations will work much better.

Thanks for the response guys.
I was using conbi "LUSH LAYERS" in the piano category.
I'm trying to play "You sang to me" by Marc Anthony. I thought the bass line would sound good using a bossa bass arp.
I'll try again.

For a while I began to think something was wrong with the keyboard.
I don't think I did anything to the velocity parameter. Although I did change the "keys" to a lower octave on the board. C2-C3.

Thanks again, :)
