The Radias user programs thread

Post by rfoshaug »

We've got a few new additions to the Radias download area: http://korgforums.com/?show=1 (click on the "Radias" diskette symbol).

I've uploaded two banks myself (the "Radias Heaven"), but it took a while before they showed up in the download area (moderators have been very busy, I know), so I didn't even know that my sounds were there - it's easy to forget to check the download section.

So I figured that we need a thread where sound creators can make other users aware of their creations, and where those other users can give feedback on the sounds, and maybe even make requests for specific sounds they want.

This thread is not only for my programs but for anyone who wish to discuss any uploaded or downloaded user programs.

But I'll go first with a little description of my "Radias Heaven" collection. These are sounds I've programmed for my own use (and in some cases just for the pleasure of programming and experimenting with sound). As such, they don't always have every controller assigned to something (and most of them don't respond to velocity), and there are no guarantee that they'll suit your needs or musical style. :)

I've included 3 variations of the monophonic but complex sound "Analogue" which i used in my YouTube demo video "Modulation fun with Korg Radias" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQCDXRs3O7A). The mod sequencers control the pitch of both oscillators, while V.Patch intensity for V.Patch 1 controls the percussion.

I've also included a few monophonic sounds that have portamento in a fingered mode (ie. there's no portamento if you lift your fingers off the keys between notes, but there is portamento if you play legato, ie. pressing the next key before releasing the previous one). This isn't really possible in the Radias, so I've used Envelope Generator 3 to control portamento time (in one of the V.Patches) to achieve this effect.

Feel free to use, tweak, modify and play these sounds as you wish. :)

Great idea rfoshaug,
I liked some of your pad sounds by the way :) and the vangelis lead. Very inspiring 8)

I'm currently working on an expanded version of my existing set which has a link here on the forum boards. When its finished i'll be submittin it for upload on the downloads section, but currently there are as follows:
Banks A to H (128 programs)
- series of evolving and sequenced ring/sync and sync pad sounds
- evolving leads
- more pads
- highly improved and possibly very realistic mellotron string/watcher sound (improved over last version)
- Tauraus bass emulations
- Attempt at triton series 'Hard Pulse Bass' preset
- various metal, screaching, tube train, noise, digital, and synth SFX
- PWM, analogue (dual BP filtered) squarewave choir (ex. korg lambda), and analogue brass, followed by an Ensemble combination based on these.
- Several different string, orchestra, hybrid(pcm and synth) ensemble sounds
- examples of wave sequencing
- basic attempt at "trans europe express" sequence/strings
- Sequence attempt for intro of 'Fountains of Salmacis' by Genesis
- Basic set up for 'Welcome to the Machine' bass, steam FX, and lead sound (needs some work, too harsh)
- example of additive organ using 4 timbres
- Several PCM organs
- Saw-Wave Pipe Organ using two timbres (4 stops)
- Some other weird experimental noises but which are musical and not SFX
- Power-Synth based on PCM string above
- Two examples of using Step Sequencer for 'Chord Memory'

most of them have been programmed with the Korg TR as the controller so use cc#2 (joystick down), and aftertouch.
There may also be one or possibly two blank patches (okay so really its 126), where arrangements/sequences critical to my own work have been removed.

I expect to submit this for upload in the next week or so (but I will be going away).
