Instruction, classes, or clinic wanted on Oasys
Does anyone know if there is a person or group that give classes or teach how to use the Oasys? This old dog works better hands-on than trying to pull the needed info out of the manuals. I am willing to travel to the site of the learning. Thanks very much.

I purchased Mikes instruction video and it is a Great Deal/Steal!
It introduces you to the basics of the interface as well as some very detailed demos on how to sample, getting inside the machine, and Karo info among others.
One thing about it, Mike can't sing (we love you Mike) but he has an affinity
for attention to detail on this machine.
If he comes out with another instructional video on the 'O' I will purchase it as soon as it becomes available!
I also do better in a classroom/hands-on setting as you can get specific questions answered but with the above video and the endless help from the great and 'willing to share' folks on these forums it should help you greatly over just reading the manuals.
On the other hand, the manuals are critical and must not be ignored especially the parameter guide. I use the PDF's all the time as the machine is so DEEP you just have to if you want to do anything other than using the great presets.
As a side note, Stephen Kay also has some demos/videos on the his site that are great about using the KARMA functions. There are 3 or 4 of them that are very detailed including the program/GE numbers being used.
Hopefully these can help you in your pursuits for knowledge of the big 'O'
regards,
Rick

in the uk?
I too need someone to teach me in the UK. I too am willing to travel and pay. I bought oasys recently and am still struggling to grasp its capacity and scope.
Mike's dvd gave me a good idea of the basics (thanks for your effort Mike). But I now need to learn more about the synths and programing. Otherwise I fear, I won't ever be using this machine to its full potential.
I'd really appreciate if someone can help. thanks.

Re: in the uk?
If it helps at all, I'm working on the second edition, which should be finished in a few weeks. A good portion deals with Programming and Combi creation. Some other left out basics, like CD recording and installing a new OS will be on there too.dranandj wrote:Mike's dvd gave me a good idea of the basics (thanks for your effort Mike). If you want to request something specific, make a list and I'll get to what I can.

Hi Mike
Thnks - I am interested in combi creation and using the new Exi - the effects in some of these seem to be very complex and i find it intimidating to put these sounds in a combi.
I look forward to this dvd specifically if there is combi tutorial on it.
Regards
Billy

Wow Mike,
This is Great News and I can't wait...
Any chance of getting something around Syncing the Oasys to an external DAW so that the daw captures both Oasys and Karma midi notes/events?
I know there are Way Too Many sequecers on the market to cover them all but just a generic type of 'this is what I do to sync the Oasys/Karma to my DAW' kind of thing.
I really hated to ask as I would not want to delay the release of your second edition. I really am excited about getting this!
regards,
Rick

mod7, al1
Thanks Mike. a lot of us are looking forward to the next in the series.
I am sure that a lot of people who own oasys will have some idea of synth programming. But as for me, I don't. I am sure there will atleast be a few of us who would benefit immensely if you start from the basics...especially the mod7 and fm synthesis. I really don't have a clue!
And...I do second combi creation and DAW requests. thanks once again.

Re: Instruction, classes, or clinic wanted on Oasys
Have you tried your local Korg distributor? Ours is fantastic...beersoretus wrote:Does anyone know if there is a person or group that give classes or teach how to use the Oasys?
