Crazy sounds on R3

Post by OneOfTheseDays7 »

I was wondering if the R3 can do the same kind of crazy, weird, dark sounds that the MS2000 and some old analog synths can. I've heard alot of people say that it sounded very clean and bright, but I think they might have not dug into the editing enough.

Anyone? Everything I hear from the r3 sounds thin and plasticy. It doesn't have that grit and power that analogs do. Is this just the editing, or the sound of the synth itself?

That's exactly it, you need to dig around, experiment and actually learn how to program the sounds you want. The R3 has everything that the MS-2000 has plus more. Too clean and bright? There's an equalizer and a ridiculous amount of effects for fixing that.

Try layering the oscillators for thicker sounds.

"Crazy, weird sounds" are going to be in the ear of the behearer but the R3 has all the tools needed to make strange noises...in fact way more tools than most vintage analogs.

As far as dark, roll off the filters or use the two-band EQ.
