OASYS LAWSUIT
Ear damage and pain resulting every time a user (myself) passes the "Stereo Wave Shaper" in the Insert Effects panel.
If the initial default volume level for this insert effect is not significantly lowered with a new OS release in the next month, I am going forward with this lawsuit (regardless of if there is a way for an individual to manually reset the defaults on any one device).
There is no reason that the audio should suddenly BLAST through the headphones/speakers at +25 decibels by accidentally clicking past this insert effect.

You're right! As there is is no reason for getting electrocuted when you touch a blank power cable.JoeJack101 wrote: There is no reason that the audio should suddenly BLAST through the headphones/speakers at +25 decibels by accidentally clicking past this insert effect.
Maybe put a sticker on your Oasys, reminding you.
There are no stupid questions.., only stupid answers..

I agree with Joejack on this, except for the lawsuit thing. I've also had very unpleasant surprises while scrolling thru this effect.
This is a problem that could be fixed easily with an OS update.
Korg should be made aware of this potentially dangerous glitch in the FX section and act quickly.

Uh, yes, a good reason to urge for a new upgraded OS...........a very unpleasant problem, anyway. Thanks for the info.
After they fix it, wait a couple of month and then we'll probably see a post in which............"Help: the wave shaper insert effect does not work on my Oasys. Everytime I seclect it, the outputs instantly drop to zero........"

As a professional musician/engineer my ears are as important as a gun in a gun fight...seriously!
Headphones are career killers in the mixing world/music world ( when used without care )...not the oasys or any instrument for that matter! All equipment have some sort of db/frequency/effect flaw---and you should always prepare yourself for the worst when using headphones. If I had a nickle for everytime someone accidentally hurt their ears with headphones I'd be rich...
Sure, it'd be great for Korg to make a correction to the db issue, but take care of your own ears first!
When it comes to using some sort of near-field system to monitor your sound, keep the db's down...
Believe me, I hate hearing that someone has damaged their hearing due to whatever the cause ( I'm sorry to hear of your situation )...but you have to set your own precausionary measures to truly be safe...don't let Korg or anyone take care of your ears for you.
Lastly, I hate to say it, but someone would have a better chance of starting a lawsuit against "Oreo Cookies" stating "they make you fat"... good luck...ain't gonna happen man.

What is it with people and their obsession with lawsuits, and the whole blame culture. It really gets me pi**ed off.

Money and obsession with it,makes all kinds of people become selfish!its the majority of people who think their own responsibilities should not be accountable, just because some jacked up lawyer wants to stay in business.lcmorley wrote:What is it with people and their obsession with lawsuits, and the whole blame culture.
Trouble is nowadays that people know all their rights but non of their own responsibilities,Blaming Korg for this issue with hearing damage due to your own irresponsible attitude to take due action to remedy the problem whilst using your headphones on your own behalf is like suing McDonalds for becoming Fat just because you eat burgers reguarly.
Korg maybe responsible for the bug,but they never made you wear headphones,or monitor at excessive levels and in which case when you became aware of the issue then its your own stupidity for carrying on using the headphones or not lowering the Volume whilst switching FX.Have you made Korg aware of this, throwing a threat or writ it just plain pathetic
Come to think of it,I may have a case against Korg for Losing data from Floppy disks,on my past synth!!

where's my lawyer

Hahahahaha!!
I'm with you Kontrol49...lets start lawsuits on anything to everything against Korg so we don't have to take responsibility for anything we do in the studio---
This reminds me of the time I spilled my bottle of Jack Daniels all over me when I rear ended this SUV...I couldn't believe the guy I hit wouldn't pay for my dry cleaning bill
This thread is a joke and a bad relection of whats to come if its not locked asap...

As I stated in my previous reply, I don't agree on the lawsuit idea that Joejack is writing about.Kontrol49 wrote: Korg maybe responsible for the bug,but they never made you wear headphones,or monitor at excessive levels and in which case when you became aware of the issue then its your own stupidity for carrying on using the headphones or not lowering the Volume whilst switching FX.
But, I don't think it's fair to expect everybody to lower the volume every time you wan't to change an effect. That's nonsense. Don't tell me that you (Kontrol49) reach for the volume knob each time you're editing something and changing FX.
Instead, in a mild and polite manner, Korg should be made aware of the issue and try to repair it in a future upgrade. It can't be such a difficult task, there's absolutely nothing unreasonable with that.
And as to reasonable volume levels when playing or mixing: even at very low levels, the switch to this effect makes an uncomfortable noise.
Paul: Don't be nervous.
John: I'M NOT NERVOUS!!!
John: I'M NOT NERVOUS!!!
He states that he gets this problem when he "accidentally" goes past this effect. Well if he is stating that here and he acknowledges it and still does it it is then no longer accidental. There goes that lawsuit. He doesn't have to scroll why just not select the preferred setting? A lawsuit will just ruin this for all of us. like all things , be responsible.
