help: load patches in R3

Post by evilplaymobils »

hey guys
i tried to load patches in my R3,but it couldn't receive or transmit data.
do i need to connect the R3 with the computer via USB or MIDI?
as soon as i load microkorg patches in R3,will i be able to use sounds only from the patch or will there be the R3 sounds as well?
plus,is there any way of saving my current sounds that i have made in R3 before loading a patch?
thanks

You can connect the R3 via USB or MIDI. Both work. USB is easier, since you don't need a midi interface, just a USB cable. In either case, you need to load a software driver because there is no standard midi driver for midi interfaces built into the computer's operating system.

Once you pick the proper midi interface for the R3 in the editor software, then you can save all the existing patches to the computer before you load new ones. The R3 has patches in all of its patch locations, so you'll need to replace an old one with a new one, but that's no problem with the editor. It lets you replace patches one by one, or as a whole set.

Download the Korg USB-midi driver for your computer and install it.

yeah thanx,i installed it properly but the problem still exists..
the thing i can't understand is what exactly do i do to save my sounds in my computer.
do i select "receive all data" from the r3 sound editor or shall i select something from the r3?
i selected "program dump" in r3,and it was supposed to save the sounds to the computer.but i don't know if it did and where they were saved.
could you tell me exatly the steps that i follow?
many thanx mate.
