How to link the ESX1 and EMX1
Hello, i own an electribe emx and a friend of mine is about to buy the esx ... now i want to ask how we can use them together ? my gues is only via a mixer, or are there other ways ?
your question is not well formulated..
by "connecting them", are you meaning audi-wise or MIDI-wise? if you want them to play in sync, you need a Midi cable going from one to the other. to hear both units at the same time, you need either speaker with four inputs (2x stereo), or a mixer with atleast 4 inputs.

Audio-wise, you don't even need a mixer, as you can pipe the outputs L+R of EMX to the stereo input of ESX and assign the external audio part's gate to be 16 steps. You can go the other way, but EMX only has a mono audio-in.
Midi-wise they speak-a-da-same language, after all they are basically the same thing. Just make one master, the other slave and filter out the messages you don't want going through. I'd explain more, but there are probably 100's of articles explaining this if you use a search...

I have both.
Get yourself a midi cable to begin with. Choose which machine you want to be Papa Bear and which you want to be mama bear!
I like Blue, so EMX is the Master (papa bear). Take your MIDi cable and plug it into Papa Bear's MIDI OUT. Now stick Papa Bear's MIDI Cable into Mama Bears (midi in) INPUT
Go to the MIDI Clock menu of EMX and make sure he is set to MIDI CLK INT, go to Mama Bear ESX and do the same thing, but make sure she is set to MIDI CLK EXT (external) she's the slave, so she has to be controlled externally. Now the two machines can be played in sync (in time) together. Like all good bitches, she is now following her master
Now, go find your Manuals and read up on MIDI FILTER. In addition to MIDI CLK, the Master unit will be sending the slave unit additional midi information that may or may not be desirable.
