DNC sounds used in a midi sequence

Post by Sam CA »

I really liked these new DNC sounds. I wish they'd added more of them. It really improves the sound of the sequence. I just added a short clip of it on my youtube account. I sequenced this song a few days ago, but didn't get a chance to spend time mixing the tracks and polish the song the way it should be...There's just a hair of external reverb put on the solo line, and that's it. The rest is all PA800 and triton...

Hi Tania,
That's not a style. I sequenced it from scratch. Yeah, the new violins are very good.

I am going to come out dumb probably, but I haven't been up to date with Korg's new update. What is this DNC everybody is making a big deal out of? It sounds really cool and i would like to use it.

Any help would be appreciated. I have a PA800

I see! ok, I can't do that, but Rob suggested that i can start with a style first, and then once i got the song recorded, i can go back and delete and add parts. why don't you guys post some more videos of the sequences you make on your keyboards for us?? It's really neat to hear what one can do with their keyboards.

No, this song is from one of my favorite Artist's newest album. I listened to it and decided to sequence the arrangement. Everything is the same note for note, but i improvised the piano part. This song is based on a true story according to the artist. The story goes back to the Iran/Iraq war that lasted like 8 years i think. An Iraquie soldier was captured by Iranian forces and he's kept in a camp/prison for a long time. Then, one day after the war is over, he return home and finds out that his brother has married his girl friend whom he was in love with ...etc..I thought the arrangement had captured the sadness of the story very well.

lol, I was gonna say the same thing. I think we should swap the keyboard with a new one! I could also use a new pair of piano hands too! I've got all 10 fingers, but they seem very confused when i put them on the keys.

i'm with you man. I dig that painful feeling too. I'm glad there's styles and acc tracks to fill in the blank. My left hand is just shy of being called useless in piano music. I could very well scratch my back with the left hand when i play the piano and people won't even notice the difference when i put it back on ...

By the way, i liked the sequence a lot. I use styles for my sequences until my keyboard skills take me to the next level.

Thanks Lee,
Everything is from PA800 excluding the piano track.

No!! You are NOT dumb !!
DNC is a new approach to the way we can control sounds. You must have OS2.0 and Resources 2.0 installed. Whilst DNC is pretty technical to set up and understand at first, be aware that Korg have already supplied several brilliant ready-to-play sounds configured with DNC. These sounds usually have "DNC" somewhere in the sound's name and have been placed at the end of most sound groups (i.e. last page or so).

So how do you use it?

Well have a look at the OS2.0 manual (PDF included in the OS2 upgrade zip file) where it lists all the supplied DNC sounds and all the things you can do with them. Some are random, some you use switches or pedals etc...etc...

Take that step first and then please ask some more if you are still confused.

Hope this helps
