half bar break
Hi all,
I haven't found a "halfbar break" possibility on my Pa2Xpro yet... My old Roland G600 had a special button: I miss it on the Korg! (i.e. in "little wing")... Can anyone halp me?

Re: half bar break
Dude , your machine has a lot more than "half break capabilities". You can customize different time signatures for each VAR and FILL. (also for Intros and endings...)Kor wrote:Hi all,

Once you imported a midi file, you can't change the time signature. At least that's what i understood from previous posts about this topic in the past. You'd need to import a file with that specific time signature that you want, because you won't be able to modify it later on.fResH_ wrote:in the Style Record, klick on the METER and scroll it to 2/4

I can't see anything in this topic/posts there they have been saying "MIDI", or am I wrong? Im sure they were talking about Style Record.. "half bar" in "Break" or something
But about the midi thing, its correct like you said!

So another time, Click on the METER and change from 4/4 to 2/4 and you get an half bar, easy stuff

Hi guys, back after a long time.
I'm still having my "half bar break" question. In style mode, the METER in "break" seems to be fixed to 4/4 (60's rock)
I need it for The Big O's song "Pretty woman" where the is a 2/4 bar in the verse.
Also, as I mententioned earlier, in Little Wing there is a 2/4 break. (but you can solve that by just stopping, and sychrostart after 2 bars...)
Hope to get some answers,
Kor

Hi Kor,
not sure I've understood correctly, but did you want a 2/4 break for for 60's Rock style.
Don't know if this will help, I've tried editing it to a 2/4.

Could you let me know when you've downloaded so that I can remove it from site.

I explained how it can be done on another post but i think that applies only to
people who know how to create styles and create them themselfes otherwise
it wont work, you cant change Time Signature on already recorded material.
If Rikki remembers the trick is with Scalling down or on a doubble Tempo.

Hi Kor,
that's great.
What I actually did requires a pc sequencer that allows you to change the time signature.
I exported the "break" as a midifile into my sequencer. Changed the time signature to 1/4. This split the bar into 4 seperate bars. I then cut out bars 2 & 3. Bar1&4 became bar1&2. Changed the time
signature to 2/4. Which turned it back into a single bar.
Saved as midifile 0.
Deleted the "Break" in the onboard style. Has to be done as you need to start with it blank or you can't change the time signature.
Changed time signature to 2/4.
Imported it back into the style as a midifile & saved.
Sounds complex it wasn't. Took me maybe 5 minutes.
Only reason I split it into 1/4 time and did the editing was, it gave a better musical result in this instance, by cutting out the middle section instead of just cutting off the end bars.

Hi Nedim,
don't think the way I did this was the same as the double tempo solution we discussed on the guitar mode tracks??
Correct me if I'm wrong.
If not, then there's an additional solution available .

Its the same way, if you double it you end up with 2/4.
Lets say beat is 4/4 120 tempo and kick goes 1 1 1 1 now if you double the
tempo but not on created style i am talking about from scratch, instead of
creating in 120 try 240 4/4...now the Metronome is double speed, instead of
putting a Kick on every click you do every second and now its not 1 1 1 1
anymore but it is 1 1 only in 240, you get same speed but only 2 Kicks,
only a half bar and that applies for the rest of the elements after.

Mrs. Rikki,
Thanks for sharing the style(s) and for such a clear and concise explanation on how to create the breaks.
I have not done much of this type of thing but after reading your simple instructions, I'm going to give it a try. It will be useful in many songs.
Ron

Forget about doubling the tempo. If one is musicially smart enough to know what to delete from a 4/4 measure to make it sound like 2/4 by doubling the tempo, then they're smart enough to go the other way which is the best way to go. Two big problems with doublings are:
1) it would only work if you're going from 4/8 to 2/8...etc.. What if the break/Intro 2/Var 4 ... is in 3/8?
2) Most breaks are more complex. It's not like you could just simply delete the note on every other beat, and get the result that easy. It's gonna be even more complex if you have a busy break in all tracks.
