NanoKontrol incompatibility with Windows XP Media Edition?
I'm having issues trying to get my new NanoKontrol working with my Dell Inspiron 6400 which runs Windows XP Media Edition. The laptop recognises a device has been connected and the controller lights up, but no software recognises it as a MIDI device, not even the Korg Kontrol Editor. I have tried various ways of getting this to work - running the controller from the MicroSoft drivers and from the Korg drivers, but neither work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Finlay

I emailed Korg Support about this but their response was useless, they didn't reply when I told them their first troubleshooter didn't work either. Thanks Korg.
So, I'm selling this for £40 (postage in UK included). It works fine with my normal Windows XP desktop computer, but the reason I bought it was to use it with my laptop. If anyone's interested, just email me.

don't sell it yet
i had the same problem, but finally i got it, maybe it helps you too:
- in your driver directory (probably C:\program files\korg\KORG USB-MIDI Driver) there are two programs (.exe) ezsetup.exe and cplrun.exe.
- i executed both, but i think that ezsetup.exe did the trick, so try that one.
- once it's running hit install. (mine failed some security check, but i ignored that...)
- after that the kontrol was recognized just fine
i smell some hackish programming from korg here, but hey - it's working now!

My Dell Latitude with a Pentium M processor gave me the exact same problem as was experience by both "futureimage" and "grandchild", but updating driver or running the exe's did not make any difference. I have tried with both a nanoKONTROL and a nanoKEY.
The KORG USB-MIDI Driver for Windows Property Dialog's General Tab shows that the status is "Driver is enabled but not functioning properly". The settings button in this dialog will not open to any settings, and there are two Radio buttons in the dialog with no associated test.
Is there no updated driver or procedure to overcome this problem? I was really excited to start using these controllers, but this has become a huge let down. If there is no way to recover from this unrecognizable MIDI device within the Editor or other Music application like even M1 Le, then I will have to return them to the distributor, and be very concerned about ever buying a KORG product again, since this is my first try with KORG brand products.
It has not been real sparse information to find customer support for driver issues like this.

Please advise.

Can you let me have the enquiry number you contacted us under so I can check the reply I gave you. I try not to provide 'useless' information, were here to help you get your product working. As the support web has many documents and files to fix all manner of problems, you will find a fix to this.
Thanks
Mike

My enquiry number is KENQ5409. I sent you a reply to your initial email but I didn't get a second email, I guess the email never got through but I can't see why not...
As I said, I've done everything I can think of to fix this performing several reinstallations, different drivers, etc. etc. but still to no avail.

Hi
I can see your initial enquiry and my reply was to send you a driver to try. I can't see another thread with the same ENQ number...
I guess if the driver hasn't worked then it sounds like your registry needs cleaning.
I will email you a document to try and see if this fixes the problem.
Regards
Mike

Apologies to Mike and the rest of the Korg Support team - the fault lied with the Windows Registry being full of duplicate MIDI drivers (silly Microsoft programming =
).
Mike, I've sent you another email, I hope you've received it.
