I don't know about half damper, I don't really use that but as far as the FC3 goes it works great. It's the only pedal I've ever used on any of my keyboards whether Korg or not. I like they durability of them.

To set them up just go into Global settings and they will work fine.

Thank you.I only asked because i had the motif xs88 and it required using the fc3 ONLY and since i sold it a while ago and am getting the m3 88 I ideally would like to use the fc3 for the half damper use if it does indeed work with the m3. thank you

The fc3 will be opposite polarity, but you can make it work. There are some settings to change on the M3. Open the "M3 XPanded parameter guide" in Adobe reader v8 or later, and search for the word damper.

Great! So it can work then with a change of settings in the m3? So i dont need to sell it to get the korg pedal? (which is more expensive by the way) thank you

I had to modify my FC3 to use it with the M3. For half-damper, the Korg pedal input looks for a variable resistance between the tip and sleeve of its two-conductor input jack, while the Yamaha has a three-conductor output plug with a 10K potentiometer connected across tip and sleeve, and the center tap connected to the ring. (For 1/4" plugs/jacks, the signal connection at the end is the "tip", ground is the "sleeve", and the second signal connection on three-conductor stereo plugs/jacks is the "ring".) I rewired the FC3 with a switch so I could use it with either Korg or Yamaha equipment; an external adapter would be easier to build.

The easiest way to to produce an adapter, purchase:

a) stereo jack plug
b) stereo jack "in line" socket (the sort designed for use ewith extension leads).
c) 0.5 metre mono audio cable

Then the wiring needed is to connect (a) tip to (b) ring, and connect the two shields together.

Best regards,

everyone..... i cut the end off my fc3 and bought a stereo jack.I see a red wire and white wire and the shield wires. Can i wire this pedal now with the new jack to work with the 1/2 damper effect? I found that the white wire soldered to the tip and shield to the shield location on the jack allow me to set min and max values and will engage sustain when the min pedal press is engaged but the actual damper amount doesnt seem to change when pedal is pressed to max setting i set...the sound or damper is the same thru the min-max area. I dont think this is correct. As far as the red wire i didnt connect it to anything..and when connected to the ring it makes no difference anyhow..help please. thanx

Assuming that on the original yamaha Fc3 plug the white wire went to ring, then you have wired it up correctly. The issue that remains is configuration and calibration on the M3. See the other thread you started.
