Capturing/Restoring patches from a sequencer

Post by bokip »

Hello all! Using a microKorg.

Is there some way to capture patch information and be able to restore it in a sequencer? Perhaps as a SysEx file? I know there's the microKorg editor, but this doesn't interact with sequencers.

I am hoping to be able to do this in SONAR: rather than having to save patches onto the microKorg itself, I was hoping that I could send a collection of midi commands (describing the patch) at the beginning of the MIDI track itself. This is how soft-synth VSTi instruments work, and I thought this migh be plausible with hardware as well!

Thanks!

You could try dumping the current Program on the microKorg as Sysex and recording that into your track in the sequencer. If you do that make sure you allow plenty of time to play that back before sending any note data to the microKorg from the sequencer.
