trying to control transport panel on emx1 via midi
Hello all,
I tried to find a thread that already addressed this issue and couldn't, so sorry in advance if this has been answered somewhere else.
I am using an Edirol PCR M30 to control my Electribe MX1, and am wondering if it is possible to assign the CC numbers in my midi controller to control the transport panel (play, stop, rewind) on the MX1 somehow. The MX1 buttons are not listed as having control numbers in the manual, and I haven't been able to locate these particular ones listed in any kind of midi literature.
Also, would this need to be some other type of message other than a control change message in order to work right? Is that why I am not finding them?
I have been trying to educate myself about this so far, but have come up short. I am more experienced with software, so usually I am more used to having the transports just talk to each other, and not having to set it!

Mmmmmkay....Have I violated some forum protocol here? Does this question go in the sticky? I am relatively new to the forums so you will have to excuse me.
I will repost there and see if I get a response...(ducking for cover) unless that too is considered a faux pas...is that what 'upping your post' (I think I've heard) means?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

The only way I know, is via system exclusive messages.
For that, you need to have a midi controller that can write and send sysex,(I just checked and yours can). Then you need info from page 85 from the manual, (About System Excl. messages how the message is constructed) and Korgs' sysex command list if! they made a "command" for that..
hope it helps

Hi, on a second thought, isn't it possible to slave EMX to your edirol, and when you push play...it should go?? Tried that?
I used to have a an Edirol, a while back PCR 30, and as I remember they had a very good manual for 3 levels of midi assignments, etc very complete.
I know that is not your question, but why don't you slave things to MX?
good luck

don't know if it helps, but here's a link to the MIDI implementation for the EMX-1:
