Pa2xpro fault or Design issue

Post by korgpa2xpro »

My Pa2xpro is with korg uk at the moment. it has a fault with the audio input. When you push the record button the audio out put is cut in half.
So sent it for repair and korg UK told me they were aware of the fault but unsure if it was a design issue or keyboard fault. They told me that they would have to ask korg Italy for advice. My keyboard should be comming home soon I will keep you updated when I know more.

Hi there,
I have the same problem...the signal from audio input (to be recorded/sampled) is very, very weak.
It is normal? I can't sampling anything in this way...
Best regards.

Hi,

This is not a fault. It is the way this function is designed and should work. The reason why the level is so low while in Sampling mode, is to match the recording level (Sample Edit page) to the polyphonic playback level (Multisample Edit page).

It is in the nature of modern synthesizers, that polyphonic playback is lower than single-voice playback. This is due to the need to avoid saturation (i.e., digital distortion) when more than one note is played at the same time. We automatically lower the single-voice playback environment (Sample Edit page) to match it to the polyphonic playback environment (Multisample Edit page).

This way we can avoid the following scenario: you record an external source at a confortable volume (Sample Edit page). Then you test your sample in the polyphonic environment (Multisample Edit page). Since the volume of this page is automatically lowered by the tone generator, you manually raise the volume to match your source. When you go back to the record page (Sample Edit page), the volume is higher, and when starting to record again it may even hurt your ears.

Best regards,
Paolo
