I had a vintage Roland pedal plugged into the M50's Damper jack. I yanked it out and am not seeing (experiencing) the stuck notes. I'll give it a workout and see if I find any instances. I have a DS-1H on its way to me from Sweetwater to use in the damper jack as a sustain pedal.
woooops. I hate when that happens! I hope that's all it was. I have an M50-73 on the way!
To be completely honest, the Korg DS-1H is one of the best if not THE best damper pedal that support half damper. It's well worth the 50-60 bucks it costs.
He's a regular on all of the major Korg forums and has given MANY of us (me included) some personalized support. If you have a serious problem with something Korg related, always ask the forum members first as it may be something you're (and others) are doing wrong. But if not and regular Korg tech support can't help you, he's the guy.
Did you try changing the pedals polarity to see if it solves the problem?
Your new pedal is on the way so it doesn't matter much now. Ive tried countless pedals and realized I should stop experimenting and just order the DS-1H when I order a new board.
Hi- I tried changing polarity when I had the pedal plugged into the foot switch position. In that menu there is a option to make the pedal work as a sustain pedal and the option is there to switch polarities. None of that worked for me. In the menu for Damper I don't see any option to switch polarities.
It's confusing to me that in Assignable Switch I can choose the sustain function, but not in Damper, while Damper is the correct place to plug in the pedal to make it behave as a sustain pedal!
It would seem to me that a sustain function would be a no-brainer!
The sustain jack DOES have polarity. When I first got my M50, I had to switch it because of the Roland pedal I was using.. But the only difference, the pedal worked in opposite as it should..
Stopped by GC after work today and played the M50-88 they had. I suffered the one note hanging thing. Looks like I'm sending my new M50-73 back as soon as UPS drops it off and getting an M3. One stuck note live is too many.

While I can respect ones decision to wait and see, this specific bug would never deter me from buying a keyboard. It can be fixed via an update so if its software based, I say go nab one. But it IS your $$ and I wouldn't disagree with you if you said that for your money you want 110% satisfaction.
You may kick yourself for waiting because it could be a while. I say get it now, chances are you won't run into the problem that very few have encountered.
I don't know of anyone personally that has run into this problem of hanging notes. I haven't thank goodness and I use it 2 to 3 hours every day and play out twice a week on top of that. Rock solid machine!!
I agree with you EXCEPT that I suffered it myself and have yet heard a response from Korg (or an acknowledgment). When I called AMS to send my M50 back and get the M3, the tech support guy said he had had a couple people that called in with the issue.
I agree that Korg will definitely address it once they figure out what is causing it, I just don't want to risk that issue live since I only play out with one synth now. As an aside, when I had the problem with my DW-8000, I contacted Korg for the replacement EEPROM and they sent it - YEARS after it was made available. That's awesome support.
The M50 is a fantastic synth and once I hear of the issue being fixed, will STILL probably pick one up for gigging.
McHale, I was typing @ jacke, but like I said I can't disagree with any of you seeing as it's your $$ and the customer deserves nothing less than total satisfaction.
On the other hand... someone who doesn't understand Korg products like we do..it might benefit them to pick one up as soon as possible to learn the ins and outs and IF they happen to get one that has the issue, they can keep on playing with their new toy until the issue is addressed.
Playing live is a different category IMO, one you deal with and it happening to you has a totally different outcome than others sitting in their home. If I had this problem while playing out I'd probably start worrying and my attitude would change, just praying it doesn't happen
I say to those that are on the fence and are NOT initially gigging with it , don't hesitate in buying an M50 because of an issue very few encounter. Get it into your hands and enjoy it, learn it, make music with it, make it your own, hanging note or not. KORG will come thru and address the problem, no doubt about that.
Warning: If I get a hanging note this weekend while playing out, my viewpoint may change LOL
