'Talking' formant sound

Post by Strunz »

Can anyone provide details of a 'talking' formant modulation patch with a
S&H LFO modulation?

Mine just don't sound right

Are you using the Talking Modulater effect?
Did you set the Mod Source of the effect to LFO?
Did you set the LFO waveform to S&H, within the effect, not the timbre?

I've achieved a great talking synth sound just using the formant and a modulation sequence in the past, and can't seem to recreate that sound.

I find the talking modulation effect a tad harsh to be honest.

What happens when you tweak the Formant and Offset parameters manually on OSC1? One trick is to manually tweak parameters to experiment with the sound before attempting to automate it with an LFO and virtual patches. I do the same thing on modular synths - tweak stuff first to get the sound/range - then automate later. That lets me focus on timbre characteristics before programming tasks.
