I notice you have the 88 key version, I'm torn between the two. Want to know the feel of the keys on the 61 and 73. Hear they are semi weighted. Is the 88 very portable :?:

I think I may have mentioned this in a previous post, but I'll say it again in answer to your question!

I looked around for a decent *portable* weighted-keybed instrument, and found the M50-88... it's several lbs lighter than many 'standard' electric pianos.

Not only does it have good piano voices (although some folks say other manufacturers do it better... bahh!), but as for the 'feel' of the keybed you wont find much better - unless maybe you spend $50,000 on a Bosendorfer Grand piano!!!

On top of that ,the M50 is just a superb keyboard with sounds-a-plenty to satisfy anyone.

I have several keyboards (including Yamaha Xs7) and if I was forced to pick only one it would be my M50-88 - I love it!!!

The 88 weighs about 45 lbs, so not a lightweight, but defintely portable. The keyboard on the 88 is first rate .. haven't played the others.

Yep it's not exactly 'lightweight' - but in comparison to other 88-note keyboards on the market (up to 60 or 70lbs) it's a winner as far as I'm concerned.

They're different keyboards ..

From the Korg PR

"Available in 61- and 73-key synth-action styles and as a full, 88-key RH3 Graded Hammer Action keyboard"

The 88 plays a LOT like a stand acoustic piano, there's some weight to the keys.

I have the M3-73 and the M50-73. I really like the keybed on the M50. They are different keybeds, but it is quite good.

The M50-73 is very solid (felt more solid than the M50-61 to me).

Thoughts? Yes, actually. :) There was only ONE single reason I didn't buy the M50-88 key. I play a LOT of fast lead and organ stuff. There was ONE single song I couldn't play as fast and consistent on the 88 that I can on semi-weighted and synth-action keys. Had it not been for that, I'd have gotten the 88 key, no question..

The 88 key keybed *IS* the exact same as the one on the M3 and it is the best action I've felt on a weighted keybed. It's very, very good AND fast. I highly recommend going to a music store that carried the M3 or M50 and try it out. They BOTH have the exact same keybed so if you find the M3-88 and like it, you'll also like the M50.

Please do. I think you're going to fall in love with it. Let us know after you've test driven one what your thoughts are and then let us know if you do or don't buy one and why.

I'm always curious to see if my addiction to Korg products is unfounded or not. :)
