Need help and advice from all programming gurus.........

Post by M3forever »

Can this or how is this accomplished?

I found a KARMA “scene” that contains a very slick and powerful drum/rhythm track

My goal is to use this “scene” to be the underlying foundation (as it were) for a brand new combi which I’d like to create from scratch. Once established, I’ll add programs and proceed from there.

So,how do I in essence extract this one scene by itself and transplant it to an entirely new combination?

Is there some sort of a copy function and where is it?

Did the above make sense?

Any help to execute this is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello, yes, that can be done but only thru KM3, the software for it which you
can obtain/buy from Stephen Kay, thats if you wanna Copy but doing it on the
synth on its own i cant think of anything except using that Combi and just
reprogramming everything else in it.

That's what I would do, copy that combi to a new location and edit all the programs to fit my needs, so that all the GE's, the drum track and scenes related to all of that are undisturbed.

Basari, you say that you would need the KM3 software, but it is my understanding that it is basically for creating custom GE's and low level KARMA work. Isn't there a window to play with KARMA sliders and stuff on the M3 Editor software that comes standard from Korg? I'm asking because in a video on how to create a combi posted over at Karma-Lab, the guy was picking KARMA patterns and (I think) tweaking some stuff, playing with the modules with the sliders at the top of the window. So I'm guessing that for this use the Editor would be enough, if you wanted a big computer screen to do this? Just asking, don't have either software... yet!

Cheers

Gents,

Yes, perhaps owning the Karma program with its learning curve would do the job however since I've been unemployed since Feb I will pass on that for now.

To elaborate and clarify, I'm trying to in essence marry elements of two combinations and create a new one containing them.

a) The "scene" (KARMA) as previously mentioned from one combi with:
b) The complete effects component from another combi

My custom participation will to put in and set-up the programs and layers.

Can one copy the entire effects section... as set-up (all of the parameters) from 1 combi to another?

Thanks again,
Bruce

Thats what i dont know, if M itself can copy KARMA TRC from on Scene and
paste them over to another Combi, thats why i mentioned the KM3. As for
the M3 editor itself it can do it only if M3 can on its own, the editor is just a
Miror of M3, nothing more nothing less.
Now, i will have to find out today and help you on this if Stephen doesnt jump
in in the meantime and actually help both of us. What you ask now it can be
done, i mean i can do it with my experience and knowledge but i dont know
how much you know about it:
I would sellect the Combi with that Scene and then Copy the FX from the other
Combi to this one, now you have the FX over at least, from there you can start
reseting and editing the other parts of that Combi but rememeber, having that
particular Scene in there with that GE it will have to be on all 8 Scenes, you
cant have different GEs, it'll be only that just tweaked around on Scenes.

.............................
Ok there is a way, i didnt confirm it by trying it but its there, i see it on the
synth itself, on the Main page of the COMBI go on the RTC page then click
the Arrow, once you click the Arrow and you'll see Copy Scene, Copy KARMA
Module and Swap Scene everything will be clear to you...you go Boy!
Read in the Manual for detailed description of this 3 functions.

Yes, very easy, you go to IFX or MFX page, whichever you wanna use and
then go on the Arrow and choose Copy, you'll find everything in there.
I think you have a problem with using the Arrow thing, once you start using
that half of your questions would be gone... :D

Much obliged gentlemen for your kind and valuable assistance.

Thanks so much for those pointers.

Basari, I look forward to your release of the Vangelis and Jarre programs!

Hi M3Forever,

Just wanted to make sure you know, there is a command on the M3 itself, to copy (the "import" kind of copy) KARMA modules from an existing Program or Combi.

From the main Combi screen, touch either the KARMA GE or KARMA RTC tabs, then the drop-down menu, and you should see "Copy KARMA Module." You have the option to copy different elements of the module, but just so you know, it will always copy ALL of the scenes instead of just one.

Possibly not exactly what you're looking for, but if you're really starting from scratch, you can always copy and swap scenes later on... also in the same drop-down menu, there are "Copy Scene" and "Swap Scene" options.

Hope this helps,
Rich

Rich,

I always appreciate & value your informative responses and help.

Thanks so much as I'm just starting to get my feet wet in the programing end of things.

Please take care,
