microkorg soundeditor help

Post by rhorecny »

I have an M Audio uno MIDI to USB cord hooked up to my korg and laptop. Korg has copy protect off and tried every channel but still get an error from the program not seeing it. Also tried it as a MIDI controller in garageband on my iMac, but no notes are registered. Both the mac and the laptop recognize the cable, but don't recognize the korg. Please help

I had the same device and had no luck getting it to work with the MK...

if your M Audio Uno has an "8" in the third digit of the SN it is defective... See M Audio's site:

http://forums.m-audio.com/announcement.php?f=10

Note: M-Audio has identified a defect in a manufacturing run of its popular MIDISPORT UNO 1x1 MIDI interfaces. The defect affects only the MIDI input and causes the MIDISPORT Uno to distort incoming MIDI data resulting in random notes, inaccurate note on/off messages, as well as pitch bend.

The following Serial Number range of USB MIDISPORT Uno’s is affected:

From: S/N 31805709001 To: S/N 45805704080

The important Numbers to reference are the first 3 digits. The third digit MUST be an eight. So we’re looking for numbers 318, 328, 338, 348, 358 etc up to 458. What are the FIRST 3 digits of your SN?

I have pretty much given up on trying to edit the MK's parameters on my Mac...

I can't use the editor with my M Audio Firewire 410...
It also does not work with the cheap-o solution of the M Audio Uno...

Unless you want to order a midi solution that is specifically known to work with the MK and software it seems to be a gamble.

Microkorg Sound Editor

Post by jds1 »

Hello All,

I'm also having the same problem with the sound editor.

(The message "Microkorg Did Not Respond" occurs everytime I try and change a setting,
there's obviously something I haven't accounted for, but I've looked through the Sound Editor's properties and connections etc, and have turned write protection off on the microkorg, and still the error occurs.)

Can someone list a step by step procedure to fix this problem, and how to create/save sounds etc onto my Microkorg?

My Setup Is:
iMac Desktop, Logic Studio, BFD2, Focusrite Saffire, Microkorg.

Thanks,

JDS1
