p.s. Combi 127 Init.Combination

p.s. part 2: while using the editor, is it possible to hear the synth via headphones plugged into the computer?
Unfortunately I can't look at that because I don't have an X50, I have a TR which is almost exactly the same. definately the parts we are discussing here should be identical. But there is no editor for the TR.
I will try what you mentioned in the above post though.

on 2. no, the MIDI (or USB?) connection for the editor transmits note on off, controller changes etc. it is a data exchange so carries no audio. you would need the audio from your X50 hooked up to the computer as you would any other instrument.
your headphones need to be connected to the X50 or any mixer/etc you have it plugged into.

Thanks,
I'm a guitar player adding orchestral sounds to my tunes and I know how to play keys good enough to know that I can't play keys...;>)

I figured it would be easier to add 2 voices (split L & R) at the same time rather than my usually limited attempts to play a second voice in unison with the first prior to adding a harmony voicing.

just noticed in your photo that you had the other timbre panned to one side. is it possible that you're having a monitoring problem? e.g. your track is set to mono only reading the L input, or your phones aren't plugged in right, etc...

we've covered everything required to make a combi work propperly.

Good thought but I'm coming out both mains from the synth into 2 separate tracks of my Korg D3200 deck. I just got up and need much more mountain dew before I delve back into it. I shall return!

yeah, that would be the best way to get them seperately. but are you sure you are monitoring both tracks and that their routed to the output or whatever?

besides that, i'm really running out of ideas. it must be something simple - it should just work!

I downloaded the x50 editor from the korg page and opened your file but it contained no information and everything stayed as init combis... so I can't help unless you try uploading a working file again or give us a .pcg file (can be done with the editor by clicking utility and export)

I does work and has been and here's why I didn't realize it.
While I liked both sounds separately, together, they mesh too well and become indistinguishable even when panned far R & L.

I figured it out when I started to mix different sounds and played with the panning...;>)

As for the Xall file I uploaded, I don't know why it's empty, most likely operator failure...;>)

Thanks for all the help!
