Assignable Sliders

Hi Everybody,

is it possible to assign Volume/Expression unique to the two assignable sliders?
let say one for the upper and one for the lower.

My Question is, let say i choose kb expression for both sliders,
how can i seperate one for the upper sound and one for the lower sound.

Hi again - sorry I may have confused you as I quoted pages from the older 1.6 manual

The slider assignments are on page 315 of the OS2.0 version of the User Guide - this lists all the assignments available to you.

I you want extra volume controls you may wish to consider the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI pedal unit - it is excellent and has 2 completely configurable expression pedals on it - there is a great PC software editor (FREE) to program the pedal...

I use mine for volume of UPPER 1 & 2 as well as many other things...

It was written by a generous developer called Mike Riley and he made the editor available to everyone free of charge here:

I just noticed that Mike Riley's latest software release has dropped support for the original Behringer firmware and you have to fit the aftermarket UNO software which is a fiddle to do since it involves swapping the EPROM, plus you have to order the UNO EPROM etc..

So the software Pete is using is better I think. Looks like I will switch to it as well, thanks Pete.

Looking at doing this myself as well...looks like the Roland FC300 is also a nice option. Anyone know about it at all??

Hi Lee,

The biggest drawback with the FCB1010 is that each button can only send MIDI Bank/program change or controller messages. There is no capability to program each button to send complex SysEx messages.

Now, that is not too much of a problem with the Pa2x because it doesn't make much use of SysEx messages via MIDI (if at all).

However I also have an M3 and I would have liked to program some M3 SysEx messages onto my FCB1010 for controlling filter parameters and EXB-RADIAS synth modulations for example. However I can't do it and I'm a bit disappointed about it. I'm having to program up RPPR sequences on the M3 containing the SysEx messages I need, then trigger to RPPR's from notes sent by the FCB1010. It's a painful way to do it.

What I like from the documentation I read about the Roland FC300 is that it has SysEx capability on the programmable buttons, and so it looks like it may be possible to program it for use with my M3.

The FCB1010 retails at $150 and the FC300 retails at $300. For M3 owners or for people with complex workstations with full SysEx capabilities, it may be worth paying double the price. For Pa2x owners I don't think you would see any benefit in the FC300 compared with the FCB1010.

Absolutely, this can all be done on the FCB1010 since it does not require SysEx to be programmed.
