motel near Death Valley?

Hi,

we are going to the US in September. It will be a two week tour San Francisco - Las Vegas - Grand Canyon - Los Angeles - San Francisco (I'm renting a Mustang convertible for that

)

We had a hard time finding a motel just before the Death Valley (comming from Sequoia Park). Can you recommend something remote yet not too far from highway 395?

That place looks great.

I've been to all those cities, not all at once, but I think you're going to have a great time.
San Francisco is my favorite US city, loved it there, but everythings very expensive.
The Grand Canyon took my breath away, literally! Plan more than one day there, and try the restaurant, it's excellent.
Vegas has the best shows, and I loved the Bellagio water display, see that at night.
Los Angeles....

Not so fond of L.A. I'd recommend Hollywood, and the major tourist attractions like Disney World, etc.

Thanks Stephen,

I have a soft spot for the US since I visited Montana in 1989. People I met there, the feeling of freedom and space around - it all had a profound influence on my adult life. The journey ahead has a spiritual dimension for me even if I won't see Montana this time.

I'm really looking forward to this.

That was a very nice thing to read, sewa. I hope you have an awesome trip.

I love the southwest U.S. One of the reasons I dont want to live in a big coastal city, like Los Angeles, is that I like the opportunity to explore the wide open spaces. I don't do it nearly enough.

Check out some of this guy's PICTURES. Most of them taken in Utah and Arizona.

I have just spent two weeks in the countryside taking some picturs myself. I therefore feel his motto...

I'm glad that you like those photos. There are some beautiful sites in the region. It's probably too far off of your path, but there is a town called Sedona that I would recommend seeing, one day. A lot of old westerns were shot there. Here are a couple of views from my mom's front porch:
