I don't know, that's why I'm asking; I'm curious.

Their top of the line/flagship stuff is almost always made in Japan. The lower end stuff - China. The Radias is also made in China.

Im not surprised on this one. Today almost everything is made in china.
but there was one surprising thing that i noticed, when i was still struggling to decide between the Juno G and the M50, i did notice that the Juno G was MADE In JAPAN.
really dont understand whats with this logic of deciding to make some products in Japan and some in China.

Japan is known for quality. China is known for cheap parts suppliers.

BUT

Korg does have quality standards so it's not like some sweatshop in China put them together with tinker toys, rusty tin cans, and duct tape.

I have no problem with Korg products made in China. I'm still covered by my local warranty. If it can last 2 years of me beating the hell out of it on the road, it's a quality instrument. :)

Even "Made in Japan" might really mean "assembled in Japan". Any computer or electronic anything today will include some parts manufactured in China.

Cost and control.

Anytime you outsource, you are giving up some amount of control over the process. There also may be parts of a product that require more skilled labor to produce.

Cost is a driving factor for items being manufactured in less developed countries.

Following on from what MartinHines wrote :

The reverse is also sometimes the case. A product might state "Made in Japan", having the boards and various other componentry manufactured in Japan and then shipped as parts to be assembled and packaged in China.

I must admit I felt slightly nervous when I saw the "Made in China" logo on the box, this being the first keyboard I've ever owned that was not made in Japan or Europe.

I work in Technology/Electronic retail and am utterly sick of seeing the junk that's coming out of China. I spend half my day dealing with repairs/ warranty claims/DOA units and refunds or exchanges. Once reputable brands are resorting to the most transparent cost-cutting exercises.

That being said, you've got to have faith that Korg are doing the right thing. Delivering us a product that has been heavily monitored during the quality control phase at it's offshore factory and as such is built for years of enjoyment.
