Loading old PCM and Sounds on new OS

Post by ivoryslapper »

Quick question to anyone that can advise.
I have previously updated my PA1x Pro to the latest OS version, loaded the new resources disks and the sounds seem fresh and new.

If I want to reload one of my earlier backup sets made with the previous OS version, it sounds as if the factory sounds also are reversed in the same way.

For example the trumpet pro sound seems to lose its velocity and aftertouch dynamics as offered with the new OS.
I actually never changed this sound and usually store my custom samples and sounds in User banks so unless i am going mad, is reloading an old set somehow removing what the new OS & resource Disks apply to the PA1x?

HI. Try re-enabling and adjusting your Master EQ up as the new OS would have set it to default. :)

I Don`t think Pa1x has luxury of a master eq.

Actually you are correct Mick.

No master EQ on my PA1x Elite.

Any other ideas?

Hi Ivoryslapper, I've never had a pa1x Elite but I find it quite astonishing that there's no MasterEQ. I assumed that an EQ parameter adjustment would be as on the pa2x. Oh well! We live and learn

Hi,
As far as I know its impossible for the factory samples to be changed so its got to be either a global setting (reverb?) or some changes you made to factory sounds (not samples) and overwrote (changes the way the samples are addressed in sound mode (cut-off/amp/filter etc).
I do recall there was a change the way Pcm user sounds are address in OS3.01 but it was more to do with correct storage/addressing than the way they sound. (It was recommended that PCM be re-saved as a set under the latest operating system to fix this).
Maybe its the Velocity or Touch Curve you have chosen under Global, Basic tab. If you have changed this inadvertantly for eg from Medium to Hard you would need to play harder to achieve the same sound expression.
Hope this might help,
Best,
John

sorry guys, I am still hunting around for this one.

I have loaded others sets onto the keyboard since the OS update. perhaps the Global or PCM settings have changed.
I worry about reloading the OS and losing all of my current PCM sounds and settings.

I have a backup so can't make it any worse.

I checked out my friends new PA800 which has a general EQ as well as the 4EQ as one of the master effects.
PA1x Pro only gets 4EQ as insert affect for individual sounds.

After playing the PA800 for an hour I am wondering more if I should upgrade my PA1xPro Elite to the PA2x or not.

The PA800 just sounded much more brighter and could load the samples which mine won't ( Not enough Space ) is what mine tells me when I tried loading a few KMP files.

I am sure it must be the 64MB over my 32MB that is the key difference here.
