Here we convert the Microkorg XL patches to R3
I'm guessing Korg won't be converting the Microkorg XL patches to the R3, so how about we do it together? There's no need to convert the vocoder patches, trance/techno, drums and sounds that use the added PCM data. That leaves us with about 70 patches to convert.
The MkXL sound editor shows all the values for the presets. We could do 4-5 patches each.
Who's with me?

The microX is a completely different kind of synthesizer based on playing back, filtering, and in other ways manipulating recorded samples of real and synthesized instruments.Critica1 wrote:why not just do them all?
and would the ones from the micro x work?? or are they completely different???
the Z1,MicroKorg/MS2000,MicroKorgXL/R3/Radias, are all pure synthesis machines (okay, they have some very simple digital sample data for some waveforms) based around generating new sounds from scratch, all effectively descendants of the Minimoog and similar old-school synths.
by contrast, Triton, M1, M3, M50, MicroX/X50/TR, etc are all descendants of the Mellotron, Emulator, Fairlight CMI, and later the Akai samplers, etc. aimed at recreating original instruments.
Current Gear: Kronos 61, RADIAS-R, Volca Bass, ESX-1, microKorg, MS2000B, R3, Kaossilator Pro +, MiniKP, AX3000B, nanoKontrol, nanoPad MK II,
Other Mfgrs: Moog Sub37, Roland Boutique JX03, Novation MiniNova, Akai APC40, MOTU MIDI TimePiece 2, ART Pro VLA, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40.
Past Gear: Korg Karma, TR61, Poly800, EA-1, ER-1, ES-1, Kawai K1, Novation ReMote37SL, Boss GT-6B

thanks for that bit of information...X-Trade wrote:The microX is a completely different kind of synthesizer based on playing back, filtering, and in other ways manipulating recorded samples of real and synthesized instruments.

i have the awesome "Universe" patch from the M1 in my M50...i wonder what other great sounds the M1 has

and i liked some of the sounds from the Micro X...so could they work with my M50 as well??
Radias is sexiest when "turned on"

I just started converting these. The factory presets for the MKXL are included with the download, and although it's a bit time consuming, editing with the software is a breeze.
So far I've only done one "bank", with a selection of sounds from several banks. It's pretty straightforward, some of the parameter names are a bit different in both keyboards, and the FX have to be split into Insert + Master (they're in one section on the XL). Also, the R3 doesn't for some reason allow Pulse on OSC 2?
An easy (and free) way to get more new sounds for the R3!
