N00b question regarding the arpeggiator (R3)
How come in some programs, when I set the mode to "split", the arpeggiator pattern becomes less complex? Excuse me if this question seems idiotic but I'm new to synthesizers. Does it have something to do with polyphony limit? :\
Because you've taken away about half the notes assigned to one timbre when you do the split. The arp can be set to trigger timbre1, timbre2, or both. When you do the split, you need to change the Timbre Assign parameter on the arp to indicate what you want it to trigger.
Are you using the software editor? The editor makes it much easier to see what's going on, particularly in this case, because the Timbre Assign parameter is displayed on the same page as where you do the split. If you only use the LCD menu, you only see what you're changing and not anything else that may be related. It's like trying to fill a pool with a drinking straw instead of a firehose when you try to use the menus instead of the editor.

I'm only triggering the arp on the left split, which is Timbre 1.
So what I did was just play the arp on the left split about an octave away from the right, since it was spanning two octaves. Basically I'm not touching a single note on the middle octave.
If I want to make it span more octaves, I just have to play the notes on lower octaves, making sure it doesn't go beyond the split? And then I just transpose the pitch by an octave or two as desired.
It's... kind of a hassle. >_> Is this kind of "problem" inherent in most synths?

I just created a "Split" patch with a Synth Brass on the right side and a Synth Bass on the left, with the Arp set on the Bass.
