Yamaha Expression pedal (FC7) useable with M3?
Just bought a new M3! But it doesn't arrive till next week. Will my FC7 expression pedals work with it? How about the FC3 half damper pedal?
I have an M3M and have both the FC7 and FC3 (my main controller is the Yamaha S90ES). The FC7 works great. The FC3 does not work - even though you can change the polarity of the damper pedal input on the M3 and it works with half dampering. My Roland half-damper pedal works but the FC3 does not.
Current Gear: Korg M3M + EXB Radias, Korg Kaossilator, Yamaha S90ES, Roland XP-50, korg micros, Roland Juno 106
It is weird. The half damper pedals have a TRS connection where a regular damper pedal is just a TS connection - so the polarity must not get switched with the M3 setting on a half damper pedal. I would keep the FC7 and buy a korg half damper pedal so you know it will work.

I also you use the FC7 with the M3. IMO it is of better quality than the KORG EXP2, rock solid, cheaper, and it just works flawlessly!
I can recommend the FC5 Footswitch, too, e.g. for stepping through KARMA scenes. Note: It is of much smaller size and therefore not usable as a sustain pedal, but there are so many applications where you can use it as a simple switch.
As for the Sustainpedal, the KORG DS1H is a good choice and you can be sure that half damper control is supported.

cool, thanks for all the info-
yeah, when i sell my XS7 I'll throw in the sustain pedal and keep the expression pedal! i like the FC7, but it is pretty big and heavy.
I am bummed in advance however about the M3 not having a second control pedal port. On the XS I typically use the control pedal #1 input for volume, and control pedal #2 for controlling effects. Oh well- with RPPR, the Kaos pad, joystick (yes!), 2 switches, 8 pads, 8 sliders and buttons, and a freakin' screen that'll tell what's assigned to what, I'm obviously more than covered. It's just that I like to control effects when possible with the feet, keeping my hands on the keyboard.
