Changing R3 USB port

Post by rockerbruce »

I have a USB port which is causing some sort of a high pitched hum while the USB is connected. When I remove the cord, the hum disappears.
I have changed the power cords so that the R3 and the PC are connected on the same power strip. Same deal.
I switched to another USB port, which has resolved the hum issue - however, it does not see my R3 USB anymore, it just shows as a plain USB device.
I have uninstalled the R3 drivers and reinstalled, then reconnected the R3 - however it still does not recougnize the R3 and give me the R3 Sound and R3 Knob devices back. R3 Sound editor just sees it as a USB Audio Device.
Does anyone know how to get the R3 to be seen/identified again?

Nevermind, fixed it myself.
Never forget to run the KORG Install Midi device after.

My solution to the problem was to use a MIDI to USB cable, and then route the MIDI cords through a secondary synthesizer which I also use to record from. That way there was no longer a direct loop between the audio and MIDI causing the hum.
