Want to sell KORG OASYS 88

Post by djain1027 »

KORG OASYS 88. Like brand new. Hardly used. Any interested buyers? What price I should be expecting?

Look at "Completed auctions" on eBay.

If you are in the U.S. I would assume a price of $4,500 or higher, depending on the condition and whether you have any options installed.

You will get your best price if:
-- you take tons of really good digital pictures
-- you have all of the original documenation and packaging (shows you take care of your gear)
-- you honestly describe ANY defect, regardless of how small
-- you give an honest reason why you are selling
-- you provide a detailed history of the keyboard, including when purchased, where, how many owners, and the Serial Number
-- you determine shipping up front before you sell and include state the shipping charge in the eBay auction
-- you tell people where you are located (city, state)
-- you should also be willing to provide your phone number so people can talk to you about the keyboard before they make a bid

Given the OASYS is expensive compared with other synths, you will be selling to a "premium" buyer, which means you really need to raise their comfort level. As an example, when you state "hardly used, like brand new", I would expect you have all of the original manuals, CDs, and box, and would expect the keyboard to have zero blemishes or scratches.

I totatlly agree with Martin.

Way to outline all the pertinent criteria, dude. That is all stuff that I would be asking and expecting honest answers to if I were shopping for a used O. It is a much harder decision to spend $4500.00 + on a synth from a private party (and thus a perfect stranger) than it is to spend that same dough at a dealer. (And, yes, we all know that ya may not be able to get a "new" Oasys.) Regardless, when you buy from a reputable dealer you get a satisfaction guarantee, money back if not satisfied, and other customer service related services. Used stuff is a "buyer beware" market and you get none of the aforementioned perks.

Anyhoo, all I'm adding here is my agreement to Martin's thoughts. If you claim that your Oasys is "mint" or "like new" it better well be. I have bought and sold a few items on eBay and NEVER misrepresent stuff. It ALWAYS pays to be honest. The very few times I have been fibbed to by unscrupulous eBayer's I have fervently pursued restitution and that effort pays off, too.

There's my 2 cents. :D

Have you decided on a price and where are you?

For those of you who already own an Oasys, is there anything that you could do with second connected to the first that you cannot already do with a single instrument? I realize that there might be some advantages in a live setting (as well as having a spare on tour, if the first failed). But I am primarily thinking of the recording environment.

I can answer this given the fact that I have nearly 48 Tritons in the Studio. Triton Studio and Extreme Primarily.

The reason is that I need DIRECT ACCESS to my Programs and Combis. I HATE loading in and dealing with PCG files. So much to the point where if I have to load in some Programs or Combis that are non existent in my current Tritons and every last bank is already full of Programs and Combis, I'm literally buying another one. Period. I can't stand PCG files for any given reason, except for backups. Period. I've had too many instances where I'd load in a PCG file and next thing I know, I loaded the wrong one, which caused me to lose a LOT of Programs and Combis!

Last time I did that, I got fed and started searching CL, eBay and music shops for Triton Studios and Extremes only bought the ones in Mint Condition that actually came with the original box and manuals, disks, etc.

Add to that, not having direct access to my Programs and Combis slows me down and by the time I find the Program or Combi I'm looking for that's in a PCG file, I've lost my creative flow.

I need direct access to my sounds and if I have to spend an arm and a leg to get it, I will. My creative flow is FAR MORE valuable to me than how much money I have in the bank.

OASYS to me is no different. I got my OASYS back from the thief that stole it from me and miraculously all my work was still there. And EVERY last Slot was filled with either modified or original Programs. Combis were almost filled up, except for maybe one or two banks.

I just bought a second OASYS 88 as a result, So I wouldn't have to deal with PCG files again and I'm seriously thinking of buying 8 more 88's within the next month. I'll probably have two in my bedroom with a digital mixer and some Monitors so I have something to go to if I wake up in the middle of the night and inspiration strikes.

But I'm VERY meticulous about getting a USED OASYS. I HAVE to see before I even CONSIDER the purchase. If the box, manuals or the CD's are not there, I'm NOT buying it. ONE scratch, and the deal is off. It HAS to be in NEW condition for me to even CONSIDER.

One other HUGE criteria I have is that it HAS to be power conditioned from DAY 1. I will NOT buy it if it's been plugged in to a raw contaminated AC outlet.

I need it to be clean inside and out and so far I've found one which I just bought. Looking for 8 more and I'm not kidding.

I'm going to call you out on this one and ask that you prove it.
The story of the missing OASYS turned into a joke by the end, and now your back with 48 Tritons ?.

Lets see them then. Post a photo of your Studio.

LOL, I was thinking exactly the same thing. I reckon that it would be great to have a spare keyboard as a backup if one can afford it, especially if you tour etc, but somehow having 48 seems totally bonkers. Still, its his money I guess. And his studio must be huge.

As for myself I am quite happy with just the one OASYS, plus my 56 Hammond B3 Organs (just kidding, although I do have a virtual B3 on my Scope card, hehe)

Sorry Sina, I just don't buy it.

Post pics or it never happened.

I mean using PCGs is like easiest thing in the world, just need to concentrate :D

YOU have a HARD DISK in your OASYS. You can save millions of sounds right on it. Buying a second OASYS just to have new sounds is a sign of gradual retardation I reckon, while some people dream about them you come here and say things as ridiculous as this.

Sina
Sorry, I have to get involved again. I think that Sina is an immensely insecure person who probably thinks that posting all of this stuff will either impress us, or make us envious of his money, and unfortunately, neither is the case.

Sina, I think that if you cannot get what you want out of 1 Oasys, then you must just be truely inefficient at working. I can understand possibly a second Oasys as a backup if you are gigging with them, but 10 within the same building. 2 within the same room. That is just beyond the relms of normality. I could maybe understand one of each model of the Triton, but "nearly 48"!!! (I gotta admit markuk, I nearly plssed myself laughing when you pointed that out mate). In fact, the more I think about it, Sina is surely just being provocative here.

If not, then I think there is only one thing you need Sina, and that is a straight jacket. Although you could have nearly 48 of them to make sure you can't get free!! And you will never have to worry your pretty little head about a PCG file again, and also save yourself a fortune in the process :)
