Hi. I am extremely retarded. I'm also kind of frustrated at this point in my attempt to figure this out.
I use Live 5 to cue audio samples (i.e. full-length mp3s) and mix them together. I bought my KP3 thinking I could use it in THREE ways:
1) To connect it to my Mac via USB, and use it in EXT-CTRL mode to be able to cue one or more audio selections in Ableton.
2) To use it to add effects to my mixes -- whether they be the Korg native effects or if I use the KP3 to control Ableton's effects, it makes no difference to me. A flanger is a flanger, amirite?
3) To use a mic input to loop vocal/beatbox samples.
Right now #1 is giving me PROBLEMS. I've reached an impasse. I've installed the drivers. I've installed the KP3-Editor. I went into Ableton preferences and selected the KP3 and so on. I just can't get the audio tracks to come up on the Kaoss pad. It's like it's not being recognized or something.
I'd consider myself tech savvy, but hot damn, I just don't get it.
Help anybody? What am I doing wrong? The KP3 can cue audio tracks from Ableton, right?
Start at square 1 if possible!
Thanks so much.

Re: KP3 and Ableton
What do you mean by that? You can't put Live audio tracks onto the KP3, if that's what you mean. The KP3 can control anything in EXT.CTRL mode that Live allows you to control via midi, including cueing tracks. Read the "MIDI Remote Control" section of the Live Reference Manual. The KP3 doesn't know anything about Live, but using the KP3 editor you can assign whatever midi messages you want to the KP3 controls by clicking on the EXT.CTRL & GLOBAL tab, then click on any of the red boxes on the image of the KP3 to select the control and enter the midi information on the right hand side.liamjonas wrote:I just can't get the audio tracks to come up on the Kaoss pad. For example, you can click on the red box above the Program Memory 1 button (of the numbered buttons from 1 to

Now in Live you need to map the midi note C1 to do something, like Cue/UnCue Clip 1. (following the manual for MIDI Remote Control). If you need more detailed help on how to do this in Ableton Live 5, then you should ask your questions in the Ableton Forums.)
To do virtual faders on the KP3 pad, you need to pick a pattern like Pattern 4, which configures the pad to be 8 vertical controls, then you can change the MIDI CC# or use the default (70) on the right side of the editor.
After configuring the KP3, you should save the configuration to a file on the computer by hitting the Save button, so that you can load it later.
Re: KP3 and Ableton
I have been trying to do the virtual sliders, but cannot figure it out. How do you "pick a pattern" please. I can't find any reference to this in the manual.xmlguy wrote:To do virtual faders on the KP3 pad, you need to pick a pattern like Pattern 4,...
