Isolating Click to In-Ear Monitors

Post by johnbarnesiii »

Hello,

I have my SEQs saved in order (10 songs). My band plays to backing sequences and I play drums to a click. I've set the click to outs 1/2 on the M3, these are my isolated outs that go to my headphones.

Problem is... when I load the tracks, I'm having to manually set Metronome setting to 'Rec &Play". If I don't, then it defaults to 'Rec Only' and I can't hear the click in the phones.

Is there a way to set the M3 settings so that the click is automatically coming through my phones, with out having to manually change to "Rec & Play" every time?

Thanks!

What I do is record a click track to a spare track in the sequencer and then send that through the assignable outs. I usually just record a single measure and then use the Play Loop function to have it repeat throughout the song.

Choose which track you're going to use (I tend to standardize on track 16).

In Track Options (or Track Params, or whatever its called) on the Midi tab, select INT to enable the track.

Select an appropriate program for the click track (I use the B Real Rap Kit)

Make sure the correct track is selected back on the main page.

Hit Locate to go to the start of the song.

Hit Rec, and then Start/Stop

Record your click e.g. Hi-hat on the downbeat or whatever you want.

In Track Edit, select Quantize from the menu and quantize to the appropriate not value.

Back on the main Seq page, select the PLY LOOP tab for whatever track you chose, and enable the looping for that track. It will default to loop measure 1.

In the IFX routing tab, route the track to your chosen output(s).
