How do I use the R3 as an Effects Processor for Vocals?

I LOVE the effects on my R3, but HATE that I have to HOLD THE KEYS DOWN for the input to be effected! Is there a way that the R3 can HOLD keys so I can sing thru the R3 without having to hold down keys LIVE?
Older synts offer a HOLD function in their GLOBAL section-does anyone know if the R3 can do it!
HELP!
I'd hate to have to sell my R3 because of this issue!!!

I use a switch sustain pedal. I press it at the beginning of the song to switch sustain on, press one key and then sing through the mic I hooked up to the R3.

can the latch function somehow be used? or does it only work for arpeggios?

yeah, you can use the latch.

you'll probably want your patch to be monophonic too unless you're doing something like ringmod input or comb filter or similar - otherwise if you press two keys you'll just get progressively louder.

turn the arpeggiator to TRG mode, set the gate time to 100% (or if editing the individual steps like you can on the radias, not sure about the R3, set number of steps to 1 and set the gate time for step 1 to TIE), turn the latch on.

useful for pads and drones too or when you don't have a sustain pedal
