Howto: have MicroX play MIDI-files from your laptop or pc
I just found out last night that the soundsettings in Windows (XP Pro in my case) also lets you choose which device plays MIDI.
Standard, the internal soundcard is selected to play your MIDI-files, but you can choose other connected devices as well.
So you don't need a DAW at all!
Just connect your MicroX or X50 through USB to you pc, choose settings, sound and audiodevices, and there's the 3rd tab 'audio'. right at the bottom it says 'Play MIDI-music' or something simular.
There you can choose the device you want to play your MIDI.
Also, it is best to select 'MULTI' -mode on the buttons-menu of your synth.
From there you can still jog the dial and choose different 'MULTI'-instrument setups.
Have fun!
