Someone's gonna be jealous!

Post by jake88 »

I actually just want someone to tell me I made the right choice.

k so I was at Guitar Center today, and asked if they had a Radias in stock, and they told me that Radias was discontinued by Korg, but the associate told me there was one more left at a GC in Wisconsin. (1 left, in all the GCs in America) so I felt pretty lucky...He gave it to me for about $450 (for the Module alone)

Now, this was a floor model, but it was only on the floor for a week cause it went on layaway..

I wanted the Radias Module originally, but was going to settle for R3 cause it's cheaper, and has the same sound engine, but now I ended up with the Radias. It's going to go in my M3 Rack, so I think it'll turn out pretty nice.

Meh
GC
they discontinue everything, and keep everything at the MSRP

yet they're the only major chain of music stores in the US... so they'll have the largest stock of music supplies... especially expensive items my local store can't afford to carry

I only go to them to try instruments, much cheaper to buy from other online retailers
Current: MS-20 Mini, Minilogue, SY77
Past: Korg R3, Volca Bass, X50, Mg Slim Phatty, Rld Gaia SH-01, Yamaha TX81Z

I agree, normally it would be cheaper, but they will beat any advertised price from another retailer. Which is a major selling point for me.

But aside from that, would you say I was right to go with a $450 slightly used Radias, as opposed to a brand new $600 R3?

totally. it is worth probably over four times the R3 in synthesis power, and you got it for less!!

Wow, before I realized it would be cheaper to buy equipment online, I always bought my guitars and basses from GC... and I never knew that!
Does this mean actual IRL stores, or would a printout of a site be fine?
This would be much nicer to be able to walk into a GC, try out some instruments, and then order from a site... I'd rather walk out with a new instrument or pedals :-)

No, you can just bring in a print-out in most cases. They're really good about matching, or beating almost any price. (so long as it's not from ebay, or craigslist..)
