How to unlock a Combination?

I want to modify A019 E. Bass and Old EP Combi. So I made a duplicate and stored it in one of my User banks. I then found I couldn't change a thing, the combi seems locked. Sorry for such a silly question. I guess I missed class on the day we learned how to lock and unlock a combi. Can't move split point, adjust top note, change midi channel, add a new Program, nothing. Also, found nothing in the manual on locking. Do I have a different problem? Thanks, Dean.

I'm not sure what would cause this, but there is no "lock" per se. My suggestion would be to call your national Korg distributor and talk to product support in real-time (not email); I'm sure they'll be able to help you out quickly.

Just a little something to try as well.

If you have a damper pedal connected that's not made by KORG, then disconnect it and go to Global mode and set the damper polarity back to KORG and write the changes to memory. If you don't have a damper pedal at all, still go to Global mode and make sure that the polarity is set to KORG.

Ah! Yes! If notes are currently being played, or held, then you won't be able to change some parameters in the Combination.

Thanks to kind responders, both. I was suspicious that this was something in my environment, not a feature. Maybe having the thing off and reboot will affect it. Yes, I have non-korg pedals, will try that too.

Trust me, it's the non-KORG pedal causing this for all the reasons Dan just mentioned. This issue comes up on the forum from time to time and so far in ever case the cause has been down to the end user not using a korg pedal and having the damper polarity reversed.

Just adjust the polarity, and then make sure to save the global settings (otherwise, they'll revert at the next power-on).

And open your pedal and reverse the two wires. Otherwise it will just operate backwards when you flip the polarity in Global mode back to KORG.

I'm going to disagree with that advice. Physically altering the pedal is not necessary; just set the polarity correctly and you're done.

You could be right but I always thought that the polarity in global reverse the direction a pedal works. So if his pedal functions in the right direction with the polarity not set at KORG, when he flips that the pedal is going to work backwards.

IF that's true, then the only way I thought it was possible to get it working right was to set the polarity to KORG in global mode and open the pedal and flip the wires.

I've done this in the past many times for Foot Switches for myself and friends, but never for a Damper.

I may not be understanding what you mean.
A footswitch is either normally open, or normally closed. These are the only two options. Some companies use one method, some use the other. I use a Yamaha half-damper pedal, and actually a Yamaha footswitch as well, and both work perfectly with the OASYS once the polarity is set properly.

If a pedal works the opposite of what you'd expect - for instance, if notes sustain when the pedal is up, and not when the pedal is held down - then flipping the polarity in Global mode will make it work properly.

He already has the polarity set correctly for his non korg pedal. His problem is related to the fact that he's not using a KORG pedal and for it to function in the right direction, he has to flip the polarity.

Chances are that since you are using a Yamaha pedal then you too have flipped your polarity off the default KORG setting. Maybe it's the make and model of the pedal your using that doesn't produce the problem for you on your OASYS, but anyone who has had the exact same problems as this guy explained have all been users using non KORG pedals with the polarity reversed in Global mode off the default setting.

This is known to be the direct cause of the issue mentioned and in each case buying a KORG pedal and flipping the polarity back to normal solves the issue. It's something that comes up on the forums quite often actually across the entire KORG product range.

It's not a KORG thing, it's whatever type of non KORG pedal is used that requires the polarity to also be flipped.

Yes that's correct.
OASYS, M3, Triton Series, they all experience the same intermittent problem.

There are two situations that can cause this.

1: It can happen to people who use non korg pedals that require the polarity to be flipped off the default setting.

2: It can happen to anyone who doesn't even have a damper pedal connected at all but have the polarity of the damper in Global mode flipped off the default KORG setting.
