Houston...we have a problem

Post by kikedeolivos »

Hi,

I've downloaded a Midi file and wanted to edit the drum track.

First of all, if I change the default MIDI drum kit to an Internal one (Studio Kit), all the sounds are off.(maraca instead of Hi Hat, etc.)
I've heard about remapping but don't know how to make it sound right.

The other question, regarding the same track is that Tone Adjust/Drive doesn't work with the GM drum track: if I change it to Internal Drums (Studio Kit), Drive works.

Help is appreciated.

Thanks

I don't understand the questions.... Well, there is no questions, just statements..

Try to reword the questions.

Well. regarding the first issue I think that remapping may offer an 'automatic' solution, but I don't know how that works, although the Parameter Guide should be useful..
..while on the second, I suppose that's the way GM generally works?

Sorry I can't be more helpful at the moment.

1) How can I make a MIDI drum track-within a MIDI song- sound right if I change the GM drum to an INTERNAL (Studio Kit) drum kit? (BTW and FYI, I removed the Program Change Message in Page, track Edit, Event Edit)

2) How can I make Tone Adjust/Drive work with a GM drum track? (I move the slider for the corresponding track (Ch10) and there's NO change)

Is it clear now?

The internal drum kits are simply not mapped the same way as the GM drums for natural reasons: they often contain quite different drums/percussion.

As regards to editing/re-mapping, I haven't come that far yet, but you sure can edit the drum kits any way you like via Global. It's not very easy though.

Cheers,

It gets much easier using the M50 Editor on your PC/Mac with the option 'Key Chase' turned on. (Global - Drum Kit)

Just push a key on your M50 to audition and select the patch. You can change it in the M50 Editor...
