Been working on this Radias lead

Post by tpantano »

Been working on making this lead, a conversion to R3. Here's what I have so far:

Any ideas where to go from here? Been twiddling around for a few hours and can't seem to get the patch. I'm not sure if it's because the patch is off, or it just wont sound right w/o the bass/drums/formant in the background.

I love that lead sound. Before I purchased my Radias I watched that video and it was one of the deciding factors when I bought it.

Have you tried contacting Gattobus?

Also, who is this played?

The beginning I'm thinking its:

G A# C G A# D# G A# C G F A# D# G A# D C
G A# C G A# D# G A# C G F A# D#-----------

or maybe

G A# C G A# D# G A# G F A# D# G A# D C
G A# C G A# D# G A# G F A# D#-----------

or even

G A# C G A# D# G A# F G A# D# G A# D C
G A# C G A# D# G A# F G A# D#-----------

One of those, I'm thinking. Maybe w/o the A# at the end of the first line in each.

Ideas?

I'm pretty sure your last one was exactly right.

I've watched that vid quite a few times, but I actually figured out which one it was, then watched the video just to make sure!

Hi,
This is really courious: If you have downloaded one of my last patches called "Caraotas y Papitas" under SE, you will find a lead in the upper split and a bass sequence on the lower, which tries to resemble the Radias demo you mention. Since the R3 has only a 3 octave KB, you may want to change the transposition of timbre 2 to -12 or +12 depending on what part you want to play. EDIT: or set the split point to G3

If you want only the lead:
  • 1. Copy the patch to other location
    2. Open it and swap timbre 1 and 2 (drag the target symbol aside from the timbre 2 text to the one of timbre 1)
    3. Turn off the arpeggiator
    4. Set the voice mode to single
    5. Give it a new name
There you have the lead sound. If you want you can tweak this a little to fit your taste (why do we have to say taste if it is a matter of hearing?).

This patch was rather an experiment for me, trying to get the whole piece of that demo in one patch. I knew that against extra drums, voices and sequencers in the Radias the R3 had no chance, so I was doubious of setting this for upload. It is even so that it's name is rather a silly one: it came to me after hearing the bass line for a long time with my headphones... it sounded as if it were saying "caraotas y papitas" what means "black beans and small potatoes" in venezuelan spanish :D
