Why no VA-synths as category? These are very common these days, more common then real analog synths.
Succes
I use a Radias, I ticked 'analog' because it seemed to be the closest thing. Now I know the Radias isn't technically analog. But lots of people don't even know the difference between an analog and a VA. and the end result is the same thing - really it should say 'Subtractive Synthesizer'

it produces a sound in an analog way, it just happens to be digital inside. I think people dissing about one or the other is bordering on racism. It shouldn't matter if it is a chip or a bunch of caps and transistors and resistors inside, what matters is how it sounds.

Exactly the point. The sound is what's important. That is why real analog keyboards still command a high resale value. Yes, the historical value of owning a vintage mini moog or prophet 5 also adds to the value, but IMO the main reason why musicians still spend big bucks for these pieces is because they really do sound better then VA. I think they do.X-Trade wrote: It shouldn't matter if it is a chip or a bunch of caps and transistors and resistors inside, what matters is how it sounds.
That's not to say that an instrument like the Radias can't run circles around any vintage analog ax out there for programming, recording or just better reliability - so I'm not here to bash the Radias. I'd much rather use a Radias on a live gig over a OB8. At least I know that the Radias will make it though the gig without blowing up!
BTW: Just took the survey. Great idea!
