M3 keyboard keys not working anymore

Post by jasperkeys »

My M3 is no longer playable with the keys. It behaved properly one day and then the next, the keys no longer played. I can hear drum rhythms by using the drum track button and I can also hear pre-recorded sequences; I just can't hear any sounds when I press the keyboard keys.

I called Korg about this and the support person had me run through various reset options including reloading the default programs and combinations. I was using release 2.00.00 and I uploaded the newest version which is 2.04, I believe. I was finally told it would be best to take the keyboard back to where it had been purchased since it was still under warranty.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

I know this may be obvious, but make sure the little cable from the keyboard to the M3 is seated properly.

Well, I thought I did but it certainly wouldn't hurt to check this one more time, the M3 is in a somewhat darkened area. Now just to make sure I'm looking in the right place; this is right under the control panel I've tilted up for better visibility? If not, I looked at the manual introduction, 'Front Panel' where it states '4. TO KYBD connector/TO MODULE connector' and since I'm not presently at the M3, I'm really hoping there might be a disconnect. If the solution turns out to be as simple as this; I'm going to feel...foolish. I hope this will be the case. Thank you much, I'll check it out.

Yes, that's the one, it has the potential to loosen up a bit after tilting back and forth, definitely worth a check, good luck!

My M3 works again! It was a disconnected cable under the keyboard. I guess I had never noticed this connection before but any rate, thanks so much for the tip! I really appreciate this. Back to work now.

That thought occurred to me too.
