Sequencer's Time Signature Issue

Post by taki »

SInce I play Greek music, there are many different time signatures that we use in our music...

One that is used is 9/4...

Well, now that I know how to create my own drum track, I went in to record another but using a different time signature...

After I figured out how to change the time signature which needs to have the rec button hit down (when it is red), I then started recording...

But what I noticed is that only measure one was in 9/4 and then while recording the M3 went to measure 2, the time signature automatically reset back to 4/4 time.

Is this a glitch, or is there something I need to do in addition.

Thanks...

you have to delete all measures of your empty song to change global time signature

an empty song has 64 measures in 4/4
YAMAHA W5 + TRITON proX (exb MOSS / exb PCM01 / exb PCM05 / exb SCSI / 64Mo) + M3-73 No.000187 v2.0 (exb Radias v2.0 / exb M256) + DOEPFER LMK2+
AKAI DPS16 + MINDPRINT Envoice + ART Dual MP + RODE NT1000
BEHRINGER DDX3216 + 4 MACKIE SRM350 + 2 MACKIE SWA1501 (+ PEAVEY KB300 )

OK... I'll try that out... Thanks...

This will work well with what I am trying to do in creating original drum patterns, but how about if I want to create a song that is 64 measures long in 9/4 time?

You have to "print" the time signature into the sequence. It will assume 4/4, so you have to set the sequence to 9/4 before recording the track. Now - here's the thing. If you recorded 16 measures at 9/4 and you want to add a drum or bass track that lasts more than 16 or if you do another take on the same track that is longer than 16, you have to make sure that you specify the time signature on that recording. If you don't, on the 17th measure it will revert back to 4/4. Any new measures you encounter, just make sure you have pre-set the time signature. I look at it as printing it into the sequence. Once you have all of your measures recorded, you don't have to worry about time signatures, since they are set. Good luck.
