Mac tablet

Post by Rockitman »

Maybe this will be the answer? I too am waiting for a tablet that I can select a lead sheet and have the PA800 magically go to the right songbook entry.
That would be something to cheer about :D

Something like that yes, but not something made by Apple.
Windows 7 and an ATOM processor is the way to go.

Win7 is an excellent OS, by far the best Microsoft have ever released. Very quick even on a Netbook.

The ATOM processor also means great value for money and more than enough power to get the job done. The combination of both with in a Tablet design is a winner for sure. Eveything you want for a price easy on your pocket.

Where if you go with an Apple Tablet which does not even officially exist yet, the first thing your hit with is the large price increase compared to PC's, and the OS is greatly in the minority. 95% of all PC's are Windows, and only 5% are Mac world wide. So from even a sales or development point of view, Apple are the underdog.

For me the Music Pad Pro, is what I call "the goose that laid the golden egg."

I've had one for 3 years it is:
1.expensive
2.old technology so are paper sheets

It beats trying to use a laptop on a gig (imho) It's rugged and very durable too. Playlists can be created on the fly depending what type of gig I'm playing, although I have 25 different play lists. My playlists match what I have in my customized playlists in Songbook on the Korg.

I've been very fortunate that I have an extensive collection of charts and sheet music in pdf format. I find the best way to convert pdf is to copy the file into Microsoft Paint, then save as a .png then import to the MPP. It is a lot of work but the results are worth it.

I could not be without the MPP.

I am already doing that with my Dell XT2 Touchscreen and a program called Music Reader.

I used to own a Music Pad Pro, but it is too proprietary, and the laptop give mes heaps more options. And the company behind the MPP is going under as well.

When I select a chart in Music Reader, it automatically loads and plays the embedded midi file, which is simply the four CC commands required to change songbook entries , sent over the control channel to the PA2xpro.

Brilliant system as I have setlists, etc all setup on the notebook. As it is a touch screen, it sits flat on the music stand, and is onyl about 1cm thick..

Super :)

I got so excited about it first, until i realized it was only a 10" display. that's way too small to read music from.

Think about it though, an A4 page is only 11 inches.

Agree, but how are you gonna set two pages at once? Most of my music is at least 2 pages, and I always need to see both of them at the same time. With that kind of size, two pages display would be very small.

Actually the 10 inch measurement is the diagonal isn't it? The diagonal measurement on a letter size paper is nearly 14". The diagonal on a MusicPad is over 12".
Like Apple, they have the screen size wrong for this product!

Ahhh... no 2 pages at a time for me. I would be looking for a page at a time with a foot pedal to flip between pages. Much like the way the Music Pad operates.

For two pages displayed at the same time your talking about the need for an all in one desktop device. A little too big for me to be honest and not portable enough.
