took delivery of my Kpro
so i thought id post here with some of my thoughts
first the good
the drum patterns / sounds are excellent (especially coupled with the effects on the mini kp) and the gate arp works well for making beats
the overall sound quality seems alot beefier compared to the Ko1
there are some excellent new noises, chords, stabs etc
now the not so good
no arpeggiator patterns.. this is a serious drag..
the gate arp slider is hit and miss... it doesnt work very well with some of the bass noises for example
some suggestions
BRING BACK THE PATTERNS
introduce some quantizing options when recording

Spot on - pretty much agrees with my own view, I'm going to use the K1 for arp patterns.k0va5 wrote:so i thought id post here with some of my thoughts

could you try syncing it to another piece of gear and see if that works? for example you can connect a kp3 to ableton live and have the kp3 slaved to ableton's clock. in my experience if you set ableton's clock to 120 bpm, the kp3 will jump between 119.5 - 120.5
wondering if the kpro has the same issue?

I also got mine yesterday and I've already made two tracks I'm kinda fond of (and several more crappy ones). I need to get a handheld digital recorder like a Microtrack or a Micro BR because right now every spontaneous thing I do, every Mini-KP filter sweep I do, I need to replicate later in Garageband with the saved loops, and it never seems quite as good.
When I got the unit I went looking for bugs people mentionned like the unwanted clicks and gate arp woes* and frankly none of them appear to be dealbreakers, it's a very solid machine overall. I mostly do dance/electro/drum and bass tracks so the <108.5bpm loop length issues don't affect my production but I can definitely sympathize with the ambient folks :\ I do dislike the tiny arp time/speed switch...
I'll post a few songs once I decide they're good enough for human consumption.
*truth to be said I had prior experience with the arp slider on the Electribe EMX so I feel more at home on the Kpro.

That was relatively interesting, however nothing to do with the KOPro. Did you link to the wrong video?samartin wrote:I've done a video anyway :-

Thanks, it was in response to K0va5, as he doesn't have a camera, I thought he might want to upload his music to youtube, and I very much doubt they allow just mp3's to go up.
Hence making this vid, anyone can then just use any image they like and have a presence on youtube.
I'd love to hear what other people are doing with the KPro
