In a few words, tell us your thoughts on Korg?

Post by bobbybland »

Hey lets face it,Korg not responding to it's customer base for years as far as the Vsti side of things is frustrating,so in a few words tell us your thoughts on Korg..

My thoughts are that Korg has let down a large number of users who like Korg products,or the sounds of their products, but no longer want to choose/use hardware and prefer the practicability of softsynths. They have had ample opportunity to bring out new versions of their clasic hardware synths, and nothing has happened since Legacy, which is really cool, but could use updates frequently etc....

So my thoughts to Korg, are please get with it,it's 2009 and hardware isn't necessary any more, please develop softsynths for the masses who are into cpu's and ease of use vs. complex midi situations and less practical, due to expensive a/d conversion while using outboard etc.. Please

I've only been a Korg user for less than a year now, mostly a Roland man all my days. When I got the KLC-1 I had the usual several problems with installation, un-installation and dongles. However, I did find the guy at Korg (Mike?) to be helpful and it was great to be able to get through to an 01-number in this country.

As for future developments, yup, I'd like to see Roland and
Korg do a series of soft synths but can I suggest that if you'd like someone to do something that you encourage rather than castigate? You might get somewhere.

Really in a few words ? ok ...
About korg plugins is from 2007 that korg do not make an update .. :(
since the relaise i have bougth all RTAS plugins for my dongle ,
BUT still can't use this plugins in safe way with Protools because they are unstable and many many time made total crash of Protools !!
so it is unthinkable to use Korg plugins rtas with my projects :( .
wait wait and wait for some update and nothing again ... (2009)
so now i'm very very bored !!

Leopard or Windows , PT7 or PT8 is the same issue , Korg plugins are unstabe with protools !

i have pay for rtas , but no support , therefore no good !!

I'm thinking of buying Korg Legacy Digital Edition for softsynth versions of M1 and Wavestation to run in ProTools LE 7.3 on a Mac Mini OSX 10.4.

Can anyone share their experiences with this kind of set up (good or bad)?

Thanks

i've been a korg fan for a long time.
korg was the leader in music workstations.
now it looks like that korg is putting most of their attention into arranger keyboards and cheap stuff like nano series.

Ive just added a few requests to the board myself about drum mapping to the KLC via external sequencer.QY700 - works fine etc exept the note numbers in the drup mapping are not kinda GM mode. looking for answers.

For your question about KLC i would NOT hesitate but to buy this software as it will blow you away in glorious 24 bit, The installs and dongle probs ive read about but really never experienced that, i too use Pro Tools 8 LE
I have to add when installing the software please choose CUSTOM as it then routes you thru to asking you if you wish to set up RTAS, i never realised this at my time of install as i i was to anxtious. Ive been using it in stand alone mode with dongle etc. seemingly so ive read there has been RTAS hick ups in some articles ive read , but dont hesitate, just buy it.
It was like someone giving you 40 new sound modules, you know that feeling when you have a rom / ram card ....well multiply this by 1000.
Its awesome, ive now hooked it all up via Korg SV 1 new piano. PT8 digi 002 LE. QY 700 sequencer, the best around. as i said now mapping it to legacy for M1 drum maps.

+1 to this. I have the Legacy Digital Edition and I am very happy with it. It works flawlessly under 64-bit Win7 and 64-bit Cubase 5 via JBridge.

I would have bought the Analog Edition times ago as well, if there only were any indication of continued support for the product. If Korg decides to update it (apart from just the copy protection scheme) I'd probably buy it in a heartbeat. On the other hand, the longer it takes, the higher the possibility that meanwhile something amazing is released by another company and then I would have no need for Korg Legacy Analog Edition anymore.

So my conclusion is that since Korg are losing sales due to their inactivity, they probably don't consider VST's worth the resources invested in developing them. :(

There we're rumors earlier this year about Korg doing a plugin, but never heard anything more.@ Messe this year, Korg brought out another big dose of hardware. I just think their not ready to let go of hardware, out of fear their hardware won't sell..

But in the words of Randy Travis " On the other hand" someone else seems to be getting the picture, and I think these guys are gonna smash the industry if it's really good.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiYUbyAma2s
Yamaha sound design team did the programming for it,folks we may have a winner. 8)

Although it's not entirely based off ROM,that's not always a bad thing.Surely Korg will enter the arena again,it's just a matter of when..IMO

I can't really get exited about HalionSonic, it seems too much like a smaller and more limited version of Omnisphere to me... If the price tag will be under 150€ or so, they might snatch some customers away from Spectrasonics but I don't think they will be able to compete with anything but price here.

I don't think their aiming for Omnisphere sounds, but more so a successor to Rom like workstations = Hypersonic 2 which imo was and still is a very good app.
