EMX and other machines setup

Post by noisebat »

Hi

I want to connect my emx to a speakers but i don't know the options i have. I'm sure about to use MIDI Connection and i don't want any software sequencer, pc or screen. On future i'll buy this one http://www.alesis.com/micron and i just want to learn machines and connect together using MIDI Connection.

I'm really curious about how different people connect his emx to different things.

I want to know about your "machines setup" and if someone can help me on my decision it would be great.

Really thanks.

Which kind of speakers would you like to connect to?

If it was a pair of Powered Studio Monitors (e.g KRK Rokits), then you could connect them using two 1/4 inch jack cables.

If you are definately going to add a Micron to your setup then I would advise to get a small Mixer, unless you want to run the Micron through the EMX audio in, although you will only get a Mono input (maybe stereo if you have a 2 ring 1/4 inch jack).

A small 6-8 channel mixer would suit you needs, meaning you could have 4 inputs from the EMX, 2 from the Micron and then have an extra 2 incase you wish to add something further. Then that would connect to your speakers.

If you get passive speakers, then you will need either and amplifier to power them or a powered mixer.

For my live Hardware setup I use an Alesis iMultimix 8 (not the greatest but it gets the job done) and a set of KRK Rokit 6 G2's, which are powered speakers.

If you were going to connect PC speakers or something similar, then you could take the output from the EMX's headphone output.

Hope this is useful!
