I have a M-Audio Axiom 25 and I want to be able to use it to play/record the keyboard parts on my ESX live. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I have trouble figuring out how to program the Axiom keyboard to integrate with various hardware that I use and if someone is familiar with the integration of these two devices, please give any advice you can offer.
I thought I would just be able to plug the MIDI out from the Axiom into the MIDI In of the ESX, set the Axiom to transmit on either Channel 1 or 2 for keyboard parts 1 or 2, and that would be that, but when I attempted this, I had no such luck. I am able to use the ESX's MIDI Out as a sequencer for external hardware synths successfully on MIDI channels 1 and 2, but no such luck with the MIDI In.
If no one is familiar with this particular MIDI controller I am using, if you could just point me to where you think I should go in the M-Audio Axiom's User Manual to look these steps up, please do so, as I am lost, and fairly new to MIDI implementation. Below is a link to the Axiom's User Manual if you are kind enough to glance at it for reference.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Playing ESX Keyboard Parts Live via MIDI Keyboard

If you've been using your Axiom with your computer, I expect you'll have it set up so that MIDI messages can come out from the computer through the Axiom's Out port. This is a common feature for a lot of modern USB controllers with an out port, so it may even be enabled by default.
Often though, what this means is that the notes you play on the axiom don't go to the MIDI OUT port. So if you are connected by USB, or if you usually have it connected by USB, I suggest you check that feature/setting.
I think it is mentioned on page 32 onwards (specifically p34 may be relevant too).
They call it 'MIDI Out From USB', and if you're using the axiom's keyboard alone to control something, you have to make sure that feature is turned off.

X-Trade, I was able to rule that out. I have not been using it with my computer and the only times that I have, has only been for MIDI In thru USB into Garageband. I know its current settings are allowing Note Out via MIDI Out, because I am able to use the Axiom to trigger notes on my Dave Smith Instuments MoPho via MIDI out on Channel 1. Since that is the case Do you think it could be a setting on my ESX that is not set properly?
Well, note data can be filtered out. In the global page there is a setting for the MIDI filter called PCEN or something like that: Program, Controller, Exclusive, Note. You'd need to make sure that Note messages aren't filtered out.
